DirecTV customers: Would you recommend it?

My wife and I are thinking about switching. Around the same price as our current Cox bill, and we'll have the Genie DVR, which seems sweet (we don't even have DVR with Cox right now at the same price.) Also, there's currently a $150 gift card promotion if you sign up.
Any regrets? Pros/Cons? Tales from users of both providers?
TIA.

do you have any other services with Cox? Phone, Internet?

I have only had Directv, so I would recommend it.

Yes. Stay on top of what they are charging you for (after free periods), they'll hit it so hard it'll give your bill two black eyes.

Yes, just called and threatened to cancel to get my free HBO back. Works every time.

I like it, other than the fact that the price keeps going up, but that goes for all of them I suppose. I was going to upgrade to the genie, but the service tech came out and said he was going to have to go through the side of the house since I have 12 ft. ceilings. I decided to keep the equipment I have for now. He said with the primary genie box you can't pick it up and take it with you tailgating or camping like you can with the older equipment. Not sure if that is true, but might be something to consider. You could get one regular HD box in one room and do the genies in the others.
Also, weather isn't too much of an issue. If the signal goes out, I can generally pick up the standard definition channel signal about 99% of the time, unless it is a major storm.

Yes, both. I found out that I can SAVE money moving home phone to AT&T and my Cox bundle doesn't include any discounts for Internet, so my bill for that won't change.

Good to know. And Cox goes out for most hurricanes, anyway.

This is an issue with Cox as well. They're about to hike me up $20/mo. That's what started the search. I did some research and it looks like the only increase I'd get with DTV right now after a year would be $10. So, still better.

Yes...
Left Suddenlink when they dropped Viacom channels.
Paying less monthly with more HD channels and had Sunday Ticket for free all year.
I was really hesitant as well, but I'm glad I did.

CST will have a total of 7 games this season - all away. I'll have the SEC network, ESPNU, FS1, FSS, and a couple others for the same price. I don't think I'll miss those 7 away OOC games.
If I do, Justin will help me out.
ETA: Valid question, though. Thanks for asking. I want to find any holes in my logic.

Is that something any DTV customer can do? Or are you an employee or something?

The Genie is the best TV receiver ever made. They have Genie minis and wireless Genie minis for your auxillary TVs. Middle of the pack service, but like others say, they aren't going to lose you for $20-$30 a month.
They also give you RF remotes for no cost up front so you can hide your components without having one of those $250+ remotes, if thats important to you.
