Looking forward to Bumping these Anti-Steele threads

Before everyone writes him off for having no success as a head coach at Baylor with talent likely equal to ULM, he fielded the #12 and #20 defense in the country before being fired in his 3rd year from Clemson. A Clemson insider said he and Dabo didn't jive, and it's unfortunate bc he recruited a lot of talent to Clemson that he never got to coach.
He was hired by Saban twice and as much as people worship him around here this should hold the most weight.
He's coached for Dom Capers, Tom Osborne, Bobby Bowden, and Nick Saban. Unless all those coaches are idiots then this man has big potential.
I for one will give him the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

I'm not sold and don't like the hire. That being said, I will wait and see. To your point above, though, how many times did Saban hire Dooley? What did Saban hire him to do? Saban also hired Major Applewhite. Should we hire him to be our head coach. How about Nussmeier? How about Will?

I am sure a lot of Bumping will be going on whatever happens, I hope I am wrong about this being a mistake - would love to be wrong- eat crow and be proud of it, but I don't think so.

People would've been happy with Kirby smart without knowing what his role is in alabamas defense. He signals in the calls but Saban is pulling the strings.

It's not so much about X's and O's as it is getting the players respect and motivating them to go play. All the coached on the staff know football. This isn't a new game and most of them have been coaching for 20 plus years
