The Tad Pad has been tough on LSU over the last decade, but LSU found a way to survive a few Ole Miss rallies and secure a coveted SEC road win 75 to 71.For the second straight game, LSU was led by a perimeter player hitting shots. This time it was Keith Hornsby that threw in 5 of 10 from deep and hit some two key free throws to secure the win in the waning seconds of the game.

LSU had three players get double doubles in the cost. Josh Gray had the first of his career with 14 points, 10 assists, 2 steals and a block. Mickey, who averages a double double threw in 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 blocks while Martin scored 18 points and grabbed 14 boards.

With the win, LSU goes to 3-1 in true road contests, however this one was different than their first two road wins. LSU had gone down by at least 10 in each of those contests and had to claw back. In Oxford, LSU was able to keep it close the whole time until they made a big run starting with just over 4 minutes left in the first half. They were losing by a game high 7 points (26-19) before LSU went on a 24-6 run over the next 7 minutes of the game.

LSU moved their KenPom Rating up from 63rd to 52nd with the big road win. The Tigers did it by containing the Ole Miss perimeter players. Hornsby and Quarterman did a fantastic job on Ole Miss star Stefan Moody who ended the game only 5 of 18 from the field. The Tigers also held White and Summers to 8 and 13 points respectively.

With the win, LSU joins Florida, Arkansas, Alabama and Tennessee with 2 conference wins (behind Kentucky with 3). LSU has Texas A&M on Saturday giving LSU a chance at a 3-1 start for the first time since the 08-09 season which subsequently is LSU's last NCAA Tournament appearance. LSU has currently won 10 out of their last 11 games and have won all 8 of their home games this year.

It's worth noting that 20 of Hornsby's 23 points were scored in the second half. All 23 came in the last 21 minutes of the game (His only 3 points in first half came with 15 seconds left). A true clutch performer.

Also, LSU's RPI moved from 42 to 36 and their BPI moved from 47 to 44.

It was really great to see Hornsby knock down those two free throws to seal this in regulation. Especially after the first two SEC games. Hopefully, we build on this road win.

Absolutely. anytime you can put a game out of reach on the free throw line, it is a great feeling. Tigers ended up making 74% of their FTs tonight which was great.

LSU Marketing needs to pounce on this 2 game conference win streak and market the crap out of the remaining UK tickets to make it a hard sellout.

Also market the A&M game this weekend to keep the momentum going.

I expect them to do nothing though.

There are some billboards around Baton Rouge up for LSU Hoops. They send out emails, and have the radio shows. I don't exactly know what else they can do...

I try to do my part, and others try to do their part. It has to be a grass roots effort to excite the fanbase.

For the game saturday, ebr school system students get tickets for $5. Its a half arse promotion but its something. Knowing lsu, I doubt they even let the kids and parents know though. I really wish they would go after youth basketball teams in the area and have kids on the team get in free and parents pay for discounted tickets. That would go along way in getting fans to come back over and over.

We found a way to survive ourselves in that last minute. The Tigers did everything but shoot the ball in the basket for Ole Miss, that was too stressful.

Our inbounds decisions at the end were awful throwing the ball into a double team in the corner is not what you do when inbounding the ball.

Nice road win, if this team cleans up a few things and they will be very dangerous.

They need something to get people in the door for sure, everyone has been burned for a while with the whole, "this is the year" and it being crap. This team is making LSU basketball worth following for those who aren't die hard fans. They just need exposure and people talking about them.

This 11 am tipoff Saturday may kill the vibe we have right now. Hopefully people still show up to support the squad.

Section 202 will be representing.

We will start having sellout crowds at home if we are ranked and beat Kentucky.

If not sellouts, at least close to sellouts.

That was the worst possible position to be inbounding the ball especially when the opposition is in desperation press mode.

They did miss Gray on a down court streak on the first inbound. Guess Martin was afraid to chance it.

I am not sure that three man stack at the free throw line was best for that inbound. Maybe spread the court and see if they leave someone uncovered.

I watched the Loyola Marymount Game (Shaq, Jackson) last night with my son and he couldn't believe how incredibly loud it was in the PMAC. Those days are upon us now as this team gets better and better.
