Anyone ever been to one of these things? What did you think? Did you rub shoulders w/ Tom or just enjoy the food?

It looks like his breathe would smell like moth balls.

I've never been, but all reports I've seen from others have been very favorable and it seems that he's a gracious host with a different persona from the radio or his previous messageboards.

Should we get together as a F&DB and go to the next one? I wouldn't suggest this one b/c it's Andrea's and apparently everyone on here hates the place. (I've never been myself)

My parents did one. I forgot where.
They said Tom is quite charming IRL and spent 20-30 minutes talking to every table.

I'd rather have a root canal w/o Novocaine. Andreas PLUS TF is pretty much my idea of the Ninth Circle of Hell. (Wait, no, the Ninth was Treachery. Greed was the Third Circle, wasn't it?) Okay, the Third Circle.

One man's charming is another man's annoying.

Posted this on another thread.
I did Santa Fe about 3 years ago. I felt sorry for the owners. They worked hard at creating a successful business atmosphere. My wife and I checked in at the hotel behind it. Upon arrival, around 4 I think, I made a pass through the joint to check it out. Tom and company were in a room doing the radio show.
The bar area was filled with people of color having a nice time. One had her hair in curlers and wore what looked to be a robe. The same clientele meandered out front, some drinking from paper bag wrapped drinks.
One of the owners grabbed me as I headed back to my room. He introduced himself and we had a nice chat. He was relieved that I was coming back for the eat club, and not scared off.
Arriving in the restaurant at meal time, the patrons looked entirely different from the crowd before. All were well dressed, appropriate respect for the establishment.
When we had the meal, Tom was the perfect host. Friendly, and starting conversations, keeping them going, and visiting with everyone a bit. Most of the diners there were total assholes who had no interest outside of whom they arrived with. We eventually were moved from our seats so the band could set up. That moved my wife and I to the other side of the room next to a nice single man who was also ostracized by his immediate dining friends. So, the experience greatly improved.
The food,) some fish dish, lamb, and some other stuff I don't remember was good). The wine poured freely with each course and you could actually get all you wanted toward the end.
I walked outside out front after going to the bathroom during the meal. I was the only snowball amongst twenty or so locals who were drinking, smoking, and talking shite. They all ignored me, and I went back inside.
Looked like a great place to hang out if you live nearby. The food wasn't good enough for me to revisit.
