My question is two fold: 1. Where are all the people paying to live in these coming from? (District just opened on Perkins, multiple units off of Burbank, new developments downtown, etc) 2. Where does the city think all of the traffic is going to go when you drop these units in residential areas?

Construction has started on Bayonne at Southshore, a $42 million luxury apartment complex on Stanford Avenue.

The 240-unit complex is being built at 900 Stanford Ave. on the site of the old One Lakeshore Place Apartments.

“This will be one of Baton Rouge’s finest residential rental communities, if not the finest,” said Mike Wampold, who is developing Bayonne. Wampold also developed the Crescent at University Lakes, a condominium community next to Bayonne.

I bet most of those will be corporate owned, people who come in for football games, or even rentals for movie industry.

But I agree with your sentiments, I have no idea how BTR can sustain the number of apartments/condos that have been built over the past 8-10 years. But I can't imagine you take a risk with 42 million without knowing what you're doing.

I always think that and then I think about Perkins Rowe going bankrupt and remember that when the banks loan money it is actually OUR money they are loaning. Damnit.

Yea but not everyone wants more space. I have no desire to ever have a large house or a yard.

Sad BR zoning and NIMBY types won't allow a restaurant space to go into that area. Would be one of the nicest settings in town for a higher end restaurant.

Millennials will pay more for rent if it means they don't have to drive to work in BR traffic. Living in a condo downtown makes this possible, especially with the "coming soon to a neighborhood near you" streetcar project. The high cost of car insurance in Louisiana makes that decision all the more easy.

Now that there's a grocery store downtown, if I didn't have my dog, I would love to live down there in a small condo.

come on guys

We all know where the traffic comes from.........and it aint high end condos.

It's the trash LSU student population. Locals who actually stay in BR over Christmas and Summer understand this.

God I hate what happens to our streets from august-december and february-may

"The District" on Perkins will be a cluster frick as far as traffic once it gets remotely filled.

There are no traffic lights at the location I feel sorry for people living there turning left.

The master plan for the lakes calls for some type of Bar/Restaurant to be built somewhere around the lakes. Would be a great area for it to go up, but I see that happening closer to Dalrymple (if it happens at all).

It's not just LSU traffic, it is business commuting traffic as well. But way to lump all of the students into one category. I'd imagine there are a lot who take the LSU bus line to class.

1. Parents of out of state students (i.e., money from outside)
2. The city doesn't care about traffic as much as tax revenue
