Anyone know who the best deal in town is? I figure dry cleaning is dry cleaning and if i can find someone to do it cheaper - why not?

I use Suttons on Jones Creek. They are excellent, however, not the cheapest. I tried the cheap 1.99 shirt places and always has to press my clothes when I went to wear. Very pleased with Suttons. Hated Keans.

Are you talking about dry cleaning or laundering and ironing shirts?

Ask around. There are women who take in laundry and will do an excellent job on starching and ironing your shirts and cotton pants.

What area of town? I use Deluxe cleaners in mid city on Gov't st. Very reasonable. My wife swears by Sutton's for her clothes, but they end up messing up her stuff way more than mine.

While we are at it... any suggestions for the NOLA area?

This is something that chaps me. I get all my dress shirts laundered and pressed. When we lived in Katy, we used a place that was 99 cents per shirt, and as long as I dropped them off by 8 am, they were ready by 5 pm the same day... and they had a drive thru... so I could drop off on my way to work and pick them up on way home since they were open 7-7. The work was outstanding.

Here, the cheapest I can find is about $2.60 per shirt, and it takes at least three days. The work is fine but no better than I had in Katy.

Commercial laundries are hard on shirts. Broken buttons, too much cuff wear, etc. Takes about 20 minutes to iron 5 dress shirts a week. Not a task worth outsourcing, esp at $2.60 a pop.

No surprised that the location on Perkins closed down.. they were terrible.

I took some jeans in to be mended and they fricking starched and pressed them... Burned the leather on the beltline in the back and told me, "You ain't ask fo no press!" Bunch of shysters.

I've only had one button on one shirt break in 10 years - and that was on a pretty old shirt.

I HATE ironing. And so does the wife... but I've been thinking about it.

Buy clothes that do not need dry cleaning...

Banana Republic has become my go to for Oxfords and pants... Their tailored non iron are perfect for business casual.

Suits are a different animal.

I still get my pants done but I only buy and wear no iron shirts you can wash yourself. Touch them up with an iron and you are all set. You will save thousands a year.

I'm going to try that with a few of them this weekend. I've always gotten my shirts professionally cleaned, so they look crisp and nice.

For anyone in Mandeville, Premier Cleaners does any item for $2, ready the next day and they've always been great with my stuff. YMMV

Most of those iron free shirts chafe my nipples for some reason

While I don't have THAT problem, I agree that no-iron shirts are way too thick-textured and don't drape well at all. It's like wearing a cardboard box.
