as an x's and o's coach at any level higher than a position coach?

I know he has the distinct honor of coaching the worst defense in college football bowl game history.

His defenses at Clemson finished in the top 20 three out of his four years according to ponamsky

Top 25 two years at Clemson but horribly regressed to 75+ his last two years culminating in 70 points to WVU in which he reportedly had a nervous breakdown during the game.

So what happened that you would call a success? Apparently he was fired or run off. Is that successful? If you were fired from your job after 4 years would you celebrate success?
