“This is a great hire for us,” coach Les Miles said in a statement released by the school. “Kevin has had a very successful coaching career, one that has seen him coach alongside some of the top coaches in the game. He won a national title with Tom Osborne at Nebraska, coached with Bobby Bowden at Florida State, and coached in the NFL with one of the great defensive coaches in Dom Capers.

“He has a great defensive mind and he’s an outstanding recruiter,” Miles continued. “He knows our players and our system and his knowledge of the SEC and the SEC Western Division makes him a great fit.”

Sadly, your post will be met with derision and ridicule.

They want Miles to fail so bad. It's quite amusing

I mostly agree with Miles here.

This board is just melting, I think Steele will fit well here, really help our recruiting and bring a good enough scheme to keep our D good.

as a head coach. Why should that matter when coaching defense. Plus that was early 2000s.

What did he say about his successful stints as DC?

He just did.

Looks like he was recommended by his friend Chavis. Maybe Chavis wants to be missed at LSU.
