yes. The they will close out the upper section of the stadiums to make the stadium appear smaller for soccer games.

Yeah pause at 2:51 to see what it will look like

That thing is going to be 1/3 full for soccer.
Atlanta is shite at supporting.

20-25k for MLS would be stellar

I think support will be just fine for a year or two. After that, the team will have to start winning consistently.
My main fear is something along the lines of NYCFC and Orlando City having too much immediate success, thus creating unrealistic expectations for Atlanta, which has an incredibly fragile fan base for sports.
I could be wrong about all of this, but just my $0.02

You expect them to fill up a 70k or however many seat stadium for MLS games?
Posted on 1/13/15 at 12:47 pm to Broski
The "front row" seats look to be where the 20th row is for a soccer specific stadium.

The stands will move inwards and capacity will be reduced to 29k for soccer. It is very similar to what Vancouver is doing now.
And Atlanta soccer will blossom. frick all you haters.

Can't expect anything different from a Louisiana-based message board.

If any city in the South can support soccer it's ATL. Anyone who says otherwise is ignorant.

$50 to reserve a spot for season tickets.
Looks like league average is around $300/ticket for supporter's sections.
MLS Supporters: Is it worth it?

I agree. I'm just saying if anyone could it's ATL. There are definitely more, though.

What basis is this on?
Posted on 1/14/15 at 10:39 am to Broski
Population, demographics, popularity of the sport in the city (playing and watching).

As a diehard Braves fan, I'll tell you first hand that none of that matters in Atlanta.

None of it matters anywhere if people don't show up. But ATL has potential that no other city in the South can come close to matching. You can't ignore that (although posters here frequently do).
Most other "major and mid major" cities in the South are backwoods shitholes by comparison. That includes BR and NOLA. Neither one of those could ever support a team (and I know you didn't say they could).

Well, you see... that's kind of been the problem for all of Atlanta's major sports.

Also, that's just stupid. New Orleans has continuously blown Atlanta out of the water in NFL ticket sales. Sure, ATL has it beat on population but to say that one of the US' better tourist cities is a "backwoods shithole" is asinine on so many levels.
