To beat the iPhone, you have to beat the iPhone’s camera

Speed kills, and the iPhone goes from 0 to a good picture faster than anything else

For a show overrun with various visions of smart drones and smarter homes for the future, the present of CES was remarkably uniform. I saw more iPhones in the hands of CES attendees than I did Android phones across the countless exhibitor booths. From the biggest keynote event to the smallest stall on the show floor, everything was being documented with Apple’s latest smartphone, and it all looked so irritatingly easy. I don’t want an iPhone, but dammit, I want the effortlessness of the iPhone’s camera.

another article from the Verge pimping an Apple product. Least surprising news ever.

FWIW, the iPhone camera is tough to beat, especially in comparison to a cumbersome camera like the M8.
But, no itunes, customization and Google's superior products (Now vs. Siri) still make it an easy choice for me.

And another substantive retort. Least surprising retort ever.

You realize a blind study gave nexus 6 best camera vs iPhone 6 77% to 22%. Lesser product for more money is lesser product for more money.

Bingo.
But then again the Nexus 6 isn't a fair comparison for the iPhone, it's so far advanced and shits all over the iPhone you should use lesser products to compare to something like an iPhone so it at least has a chance.

Yes, the Nexus 6 overall produces better photos, but what this article is referring to (or at least the snippet I read in the OP) is the iPhone camera's speed. It is unmatched. Nexus shutter speed is slower and makes photographing my kids a challenge at times.
I played around with different camera apps outside while my daughter was on the swing. They all seem pretty much the same in terms of speed.
I got some OK shots:
But they have to be timed perfectly. Most of them came out like these two below because the shutter decided to take an extra quarter or half of a second for no observable reason:
Similar situation photographing my son. Got a couple of OK shots like this:
But most turned out like this:
Those two were taken in very low light. 3 out of 4 bulbs in the overhead light were burned out. After I replaced them, he was less cooperative.
Granted, the Nexus 6 takes excellent photos under most conditions, but the camera speed is the one thing I miss about the iPhone.
