I thought refs needed 100% certainty to change a call?

The refs speculated that Bryant was not reaching for the end zone, that he was just trying to hang on to the ball with an outstretched arm. It was called a catch on the field because he clearly made 2 or 3 football "moves" or steps and was totally in control of the ball. What caused the ball to come loose was the ground. If he clearly had control of the ball (he did) and he clearly made at least two steps (he did), then the ground cannot cause a fumble (it did). That was probably a half a billion dollar reversal with all the money that was on the line. For what it's worth, I hate the Cowboys. Since that play was not considered a catch, the rules need to be changed. Dez was reaching for the goal line like he has been doing all season and the refs didn't see it that way. They should not have reversed the call unless they were 100% certain that he WAS NOT reaching for the goal line. /rant

One more thread should resolve the dispute.

Yeah, the miscarriage of justice is that you can't overturn that. I think reasonable people can disagree about it being a catch (see MSB).

But, you know what, Cowboys fans?

They do and they did in the Cowboys game. Dez clearly was falling down and did not make a football move. Anyone that isn't a Cowboys fan can see that.

That went out the window a long time ago. They will reverse a call for anything above 50/50 certainty these days.

Suck it quailboy. They wacked my thread earlier because of the way I worded the subject. You are a clever little boy who pays attention though.

I'm not a Cowboy fan and I can't see that. He was reaching for the endzone.

They do. And that's what they had.

Which is why fans and players are almost unanimously calling it a bad call on Twitter.

Even Giants and Redskins players said Dallas got fricked

If you reach for the endzone before securing the catch, and allow the ball to hit the ground it's incomplete. That call was very easy for the refs to overturn as it was textbook incomplete. Mike Pereira said he would call it incomplete. Cowboys fans are just butt hurt that the refs didn't give them yet another bogus call. Whoops, looks like Jerry should have took those refs for one more spin on the party bus!!!

Incorrect

The very act of stretching out a possessed ball makes it a catch and thus he is simply down where his elbow hit. The ground cannot cause an incompletion once a football move has been made.

I love how you say the exact opposite of what the VP of officiating said.

I'm sure you know better than him though
