Is there any reason besides nostalgia to hold on to old games and systems?

I have been going through the crapload of old stuff I have found and listing it on eBay. I was thinking about keeping some of it, but truthfully the money is more appealing for a few reasons.
- You can play any retro game you can think of from the PS2/Xbox era back via emulators or other means.
- Less clutter and crap to hold onto.
- How often are you really going to get the urge to play a 10-30 year old game on a 10-30 year old system that can be virtually impossible to connect to modern TVs?
I understand collecting things, and there are some things my parents bought me that I won't part with, but outside of that I don't see the appeal of keeping some of it or even acquiring more.
I sold a rare game of Stack Up a while back for $320 and just listed a copy of Ducktales 2 I will probably get $130 for. I would never do anything with either of those games besides let them collect dust.
I probably have at least $3K more worth of crap to sell too. I can't say that keeping the stuff is worth missing out on $3K.

I've got most of my old consoles and games packed up in my closet. I know I will prob never play any of it again (and if I do feel like playing an old game, I'll just use emulator on my pc) but I can't bring myself to sell or get rid of it. It's a combination of nostalgia and laziness.

My Xbox 360 is basically a Netflix machine in my bedroom at the moment, but sometimes I will get the itch to play some older games on it that I can't play elsewhere. For example I went back and played DA:O and DA2 before playing DA:I.

I have a 360 and PS3 and I've played those more than my PS4 lately. I'm catching up on old games.

Nothing now.
I was too busy there for a while to mess with it but I am trying to reduce the clutter. I had a garage sale recently and am now going through my 2 storage buildings and my shop getting rid of all of this shite I have found in repos which includes all or the games I have shown y'all pics of. I actually hired the wife of one of my workers to deal with it all.
I want to open a weekend flea market for all of it because I come across more than enough crap to fill one up.

I understand holding onto last gen systems and games but anything older than that doesn't make much sense to me.

I find myself playing my old PS2 and Xbox more than either last gen system of current gen system.

There are several emulators for each of those online and Sony is about to offer streaming of all of the PS1 and PS2 games.

I can see holding on to a N64 or something similar for playing with some friend

Emulators are okay, but sometimes I just like the feel of the actual control in my hand and playing it on my t.v.
Nothing better then Punchout or Super Mario Bros 3 with the original NES controller.
So I guess nostalgia is the correct answer for me.

I'm a hoarder and don't like to throw away things. Also I have my NES and PS2 hooked up to a Sears brand tv from the 70s.

Why emulate them when I own the games?

There is a feel to it you can't emulate IMO. I still have my NES and SNES for this reason.
Do you have any of the following :
Super metroid
Original xbox
N64
How much for those if you do?

Fine if you own them but the biggest advantage of emulators is the libraries offered. Virtually every PS2 game ever made can be found online. Not sure about Xbox but I think it would be the same.
That also means the games are digital and that's one less console to mess with and less games to keep on shelves.

I did have Super Metroid. Not sure if I sold it already or not. Will have to look.
I have 3 of the original Xbox but only one set of cables.
I only have one N64 that is mine from when I was a kid I am keeping.
