On Friday President Obama proposed, "America's College Promise" which would make two years of community college free. This still needs congressional approval, so my question is this:

When (a specific date) would this being going to a vote for congressional approval?

I'm doing research for a project regarding education, and this proposal could vastly effect how I present things, so I'm trying to understand a timeline for this actually coming to fruition.

Sadly, I actually think he would get better answers on the OT.

Free for the students while they are attending maybe but it sure isn't "free".

Why don't you go to Jill Biden's site and see what she has been doing and also research Tennessee Promise and or Tennessee Achieves

So I take it you believe congress would shoot this down. Do you know when this would actually occur?

as it is, the community colleges where I live are dirt cheap, almost free, and grants are easy to get, pretty cost effective way to knock out core courses before moving to a four year school

This. I'm always down for someone trying to actually better themselves.

I don't care about the semantics of the deal. I care about a timeline for voting on this. Do you know?

If you're looking for a legit answer, you are probably better off on the poli board asking people who obsess over stuff like this.

Perhaps you should look to Harry Reid over the last 6 years. He kicked the legislation Obama didn't like to the curb.

At a cost of $80 billion over 10 years, it'll never get off the pie in the sky proposal Obama made it.

You're still not answering the question I asked.

If it's "free" why not let students go to Ivy League schools?

Dumb fricking liberals.

Nobody knows: LINK

The president has not set an exact timeline for when the tuition-free program would start at community colleges.
