They say it is 7 oz lighter.

Wow, that's actually a big weight loss.
My CZ has an aluminum frame and it probably weighs just as much as a polymer frame.

On top of it on the new releases!
If they build this one as well as their steel ones, they'll surely hit another home run with it.

There may be a new #1 on my "gun bucket list!" I wonder why Ruger's 2 Commander models have a magazine capacity of only 7 while the full size model has the usual mag capacity of 8? Since the grips are the same height, the mag capacities should be the same.

7 rounds is the original magazine capacity for the 1911 style pistol.

Bill Ruger and Alex Sturm would be proud of where the company is today. I see quite a bit of innovation and improvement upon each product they release from their previous iterations.

Meh. Looks like a reverse of my Kimber Super Carry Pro and it only weighs 28 oz and carries 8 rounds. Nothing new IMO.

Correct. So why don't they use a 7 round mag w/ their full size version? Ruger's full size model (which has the same grip height as the Commanders) has an 8 round mag, not 7. My American Classic Commander uses and 8 round mag, as do many full size and Commander sized 1911's. I find it curious their Commanders use a 7 round mag and was curious why.

Marketing is my guess.

The 1911 has been around 100 years. Very few new releases of it have anything extraordinary. Tons of companies make aluminum-framed 1911s. The reason to get excited is that Ruger is now, and they make (IMO) the best bang-for-buck American 1911 on the market.

That may be so, but I wouldn't change my Colt 1911 for anything.

Do you have an extended beavertail?

Naw, have never done anything to it. Have had it going on 15 years now and can shoot it quite well. Love that gun.
