I'm bore sighted but want to shoot before hitting the stand. Anyone know of a place near Baton Rouge?

Wait, you were thinking about shooting at an animal just bore sighting your rifle?

I have it bore sighted but want to shoot the actual ammo I'll be using through it at a range.

I must've misunderstood your comment about "wanting" to shoot it before you hit the stand.

What I'm saying is you "must" shoot it before hitting the stand.

This times a million. Not shooting it first isn't even really an option.

ETA: That said, I don't know of any place except Hunters Run on the other side of the river, and you may have to be a member to shoot the rifle range.

You don't need a hundred yard shot to site it in. Go to precision and pay 15 bucks. Get your ballistics and go for it. Prob gonna want to be a little lower than bullseye, but doublecheck. It's better than not doing anything.

Ascension Parish Sheriff's rifle range across from Llamar Dixon. Have a 100, 200 and 300 yd ranges, but they are only open to the public the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 2 till dark. So they are open now and Jan 22.

at the very least find a range that will let you shoot it at 25 yards and figure out the ballistics to set it right. That should be worst case scenario.

going hunting using just a bore sight shouldn't be a possibility.

25 yards, 1 inch roughly below target pt will put you in kill zone for sure

There is an outdoor range near Garyville on Airline. It only goes up to 100 yards.

Eta: Nicks Shooting range is the name.

This would be my suggestion. I've been there several times. It's a good set up and they open at sunrise I believe.
Bonus is...... Krotz Springs and Billy's boudin just across the creek.

All bore sighted does is get you on paper to be able to sight it in without wasting a bunch of ammo. It is in no way shape or form acceptable to take it hunting without firing the bullets through the rifle at a target.

Almost correct.

Have to be a member, or be accompanied by a member, to use the rifle/pistol range.

No way you should take the gun hunting without a proper sight in. If you can't shouldt shoot it at anything. Ask all the people on here who crippled deer this year with rifles that weren't hitting where they were supposed to.

Rule 213 of hunting camps: gun shots of rifle sighting in scares all deer away in a 5 mile radius for rest of season
