Guy i work with has been here for two years and never touches quota. Everyone else is at it or close. He must know where the bodies are hidden. We are in the government contracting field, long sales cycle, and relationship selling. TIA

Not a sales manager but if you don't have it after two years then you'll never have it

Time to gather them up all in a room and give them the big speech.

If he hasn't hit a quota in two years, he is sucking cocks to keep his job.

Give him the other half of the board since it has already been two years. And slap that cup of coffee out of his hand the next morning after the speech.

Sounds like he needs to be put on a development plan, if he isn't properly doing the neccessary behaviors after that, get rid of him.

2 years?

He should have been out on his arse at least a year ago.

Depends on how much he misses it by, if its 95% of quota, keep him around. But if its 50%, ditch him

Definitely and if he asks you who you are, tell him

That entire speech is my alarm in the morning to wake up.

I'm not in sales, but it makes me want to slaughter the day.

Had a regional manager who would ask a manager one question, "If you put a gun to his head, could he do it?"

Answer related to training or motivation.

Is he at least covering his cost? Does he have some potential wins in the pipeline? It all depends.

State or fed? I've had my eye out for a heavy hitter for awhile.

This is a very different sales cycle than most here are going to be familiar with.
