Maybe because we have guys on staff that just signed extensions and a new dc wants to bring in their own staff. I know...Germans. The issue then is why do u offer extensions to staff without having signed the prior dc. That is a seperate issue.

I think we are finding out not everyone wants this Job. Looks like we will get a coach that is not a top name coach.

Cooper and brick were also replacing coaches that had been fired. Chavis did not bring in coaches to replace established successful coaches as would be the case now. Little different scenario

maybe some of these guys know that Miles will be on a hot seat next year. Another down year and Miles may be gone. I know some of the sunshine pumpers on here don't believe that, but a 8, 7 or 6 win season could signal the end for Miles. And no top DC will risk coming in to a lame duck coach. And a lot of these guys also do like having their on guys on their staff and may not want o keep Haley or Raymond. In the end, I think Haley will be promoted to DC.

It's still only been a week and change. Still a lot of good candidates on the board.

Do you LSU bro? Chavis "in theory" replaced the position Bo held that was temporarily "occupied" by Peveto and Mallory. So when these 2 "left for new jobs" 3 vacancies were created, which Chavis was able to fill with his guys as CLM deals very little with the D.

This was most the exception than the rule.

LSU if they choose has the money to do whatever they want,IF THEY WANTED they could move coaches to administration, buy out a contract or two and still pay 1.3-1.7M for a coach.

Do you really believe the LSU board are penny pinchers?

That leaves Les and Aleva-
They were given the keys and told to hire a DC.

What you have seen play out fall on the desk of Les and Aleva.

We will have a DC within a week - we may not like the hire and it may be a bad hire but there will be one. And Les and Aleva will look at each other and say
Then look at all of us and say

When LSU started looking for a new DC, some schools offered new contracts to their present DCs. Clemson, (Brent Venebles) Georgia (Jeremy Pruitt) etc.

Have you not seen our offenses. That's why a DC doesnt want to come here. All the pressure is going to be on the DC to win the games. Who wants that's?

I know this might come as a shock to many LSU fans, but established DCs aren't sitting around just hoping that LSU will call them.

In the age of the internet and social media, everybody has a source and everybody is a "journalist". I would venture to guess that 90% of the news that has come out is inaccurate. So who knows how many people LSU really "missed out" on? I suspect most of these guys never really intended on leaving their current positions, they just used the cache that comes with LSU to leverage their own standings.

In this day and age most big programs are willing to pay their coaches comparable money. And most coaches are willing to stay at their current position (as long as the money is right) than go through the process of having to start over at a new school.

A coach with some balls. If a coach turns down a job based on a challenge to win games for their team, then I don't want that bitch of a man. I want a coach who says, gimme any points and I'll win you games.

LSU possesses the ball better than most teams, shortening the game and limiting the fatigue factor and asking for fewer stops on defense. LSU has a RB that looks like a heisman front runner with a solid returning offensive line with a second year oline coach who without question showed development of talent during the course of his first season. LSU usually has better talent and depth at every defensive position than most programs not named Alabama. LSU plays in the most difficult home environment for opposing QBs/offenses during big games.

If a coach is scared of a challenge then scratch him off the list. I'd like to know if any coaches have reached out to LSU/Les. Give me a confident guy with any record of success on defense.

Good post. The internet & social media does perpetuate a lot of false info that makes the emotions of the fan base rise and fall. Further, it makes the fans feel more connected to the program... almost as if we're junior members in the board room helping to make this decision... we're all insiders now.

This is way different than it used to be even ten years ago. In the past, the majority of the fan base might see a snippet of a post in the paper about the search and that's it. No flight tracker, no news large media outlets would so quickly post breaking news that the PSU DC signed an extension to stay, perhaps within hours of interviewing with Les.

Further, it still has not been much longer than one week since the search began. This is not a long time frame. And some of Les' previous coaching hires have taken quite a bit longer. I remember one where he dragged it out till after National Signing Day (allegedly to take advantage of being able to visit more recruits since he was down one coach, but it was a long duration regardless). Social media-- and being privy to so many snippets of true and false info about the process-- makes us increasingly impatient, so that this week has felt like a month.
