I guess it's straight forward question in the title. From what i've heard just talking to people for about the last year+ other OSs have really stepped it up. Particulary have heard really good things about the Windows 8 (I know CAD just got his 489peptied boner for me saying that), I know people have been SUPER fan BOIs of Android for a while (way more extreme and vocal than any iOS F-bois, truth is just the truth). Have also heard decent things about windows 7 which is probably right there with Droid (as of about a year ago) not sure what sorta tweaks Android OS has released in the past year, so I may not be fully up to speed. With BB OS bringing up the rear but not really lagging too far off after rebooting their OS strategy (from what I could tell) but being smart and keeping their "fans happy" by sticking to what they were good at, ala great full keyboard, easy outlook email functions (this is 2nd hand knowledge from a loyal Bb fan)...

But what I'm asking, did any of you early iPhone users (or not) that jumped on the Windows8 and Android OS bandwagon, jump right back to the most sleek designed phones and most seemless OS when they released the 6+??? Were you just waiting all along for a bigger screen and that is the real reason you left iPhones from the get go and had to justify it by talking up on Droid while bashing IOS?

I'm guessing this would explain then uptick in market shares.

The market clearly wanted larger screens and the main reason Apple didn't go that direction at the same time as the market is because Steve Jobs didn't want to make a larger phone.

I know 2 people who got he iPhone 4 as their first smart phone when it was so old that it was free and they just upgraded to the 6. I was surprised they upgraded so soon considering they previously were on the free phone track, but the difference between an old 4 and a new 6 is so big they seemed happy to pay $200 to upgrade. There probably are even more people like that who's first iPhone purchase was free and saw enough of an upgrade to be worth paying for now that they are hooked on using smart phones.

Why would they willingly downgrade after upgrading?

Opposite for me. 7-year iPhone user, just switched to Android. For my use, I'm discovering Android to be miles ahead of iOS, and I've barely scratched the surface of learning Android and everything you can change on and under the hood. It would take a significant altering of the state of mobile OSes for me to ever consider going back.

Jumped off the iPhone to Android after my 5. After the 6+, Apples bandwagon is like the Malaysia airlines, lost somewhere. Apple has fell off, they're advertising voice to text and how games are better

and Google's marketing angle is that Android allows you to be different. Nothing about functionality.

ETA: The Andrew WK Android commercial is probably my favorite of 2014.

I don't know if I've ever seen an android commercial. But I don't watch a lot of TV these days.

from an ios to android convert, those commercials are horrible. They would do nothing to make me switch over if I wasnt already

I would hope nobody is swayed by a 30-second ad for anything.

They are actually very good. Far better than any other android smartphone commercial

This is the commercial I'm talking about. I think it's a great change in direction, but still doesn't simply highlight the real advantages of Android.
