I'm starting to look around and have gotten some pretty good leads on LinkedIn searches/groups. Just wondering if the Premium is worth it and if anyone has any feedback on it.

I tried it and it is not worth it. Free version is sufficient for this purpose.

Go to indeed, find the job you want to apply for (most of the time it shows the company) and then contact that hiring directly. That worked great for me

Yeah that LinkedIn has nothing on Facebook and Buzzfeed

Lots of recruiters use LinkedIn to contact potential job candidates. I'm really glad I have a page.

If you are in an active field for recruiters, and have a good skill set, you will get calls from LinkedIn. I have received tons over the last few years.

No. My wife (lots of pics, but none for you) got recruited off LinkedIn for job in a better area of her field making substantially more money, and she wasn't even actively looking for a new job. LinkedIn is great.

I agree with this. However, if you're using LinkedIn for an active job search, you'll find that above a certain comp level, LinkedIn becomes less useful.

A good friend in my field did this and it worked out for her. This is definitely the path that I'm going to take when I decide to move on.

I had it for awhile but I don't think its worth it. It gave me more info about where I stacked up against other applicants, but just having a solid profile page will get you farther. When I tried it the first month was free so you might be able to try it out first.

Premium might not be necessary but it may give you a leg up in building a large number of connections fast.

I've been building my profile via free version for years. Get lots of leads on potential jobs thrown my way all the time.

My favorite part of Linkedin is where people are endorsing me for skills that they have no idea whether I have or not.

Funny you should ask. I applied for an in-house job directly through the company's website and didn't hear anything. I found the job listing on LinkedIn and saw the company's talent liaison posted the job. I signed up for the free LinkedIn upgrade so I could send an inmail to the liaison asking about the job. Five hours later he replied that he pulled my resume and wants to interview me.

The upgrade is free for the first month so there is nothing to lose.
