As a fan, watching a defense get abused is worse than watching a team that cannot move the ball. IMO

If I had to chose, I'd say I want defense over offense.

What say you?

I enjoyed watching LSU football in 2013 more than any year with an elite defense and a bad to average offense.

Offense

If it's the same amount of losses, I'd rather see touchdowns and enjoy a mix of run and passing game.

I think, but you may be right.

it depends on why the offense is bad.

watching a bad offense from blown blocks, bad reads, and terrible passes makes me not want to watch football.

when YOURE the one setting up the play for the other team to react to and still frick up, holy frick thats hard to watch

but isnt it harder to watch a defense come on the field and them scoring is a given, regardless of how terrible that team's O is?

Give me a bad defense over a bad offense. Who doesn't like more scoring than not scoring?

Without question. Incompetence on O is aggravating. Failure on D is unbearable.

I guess its personal preference, but I prefer a lights out D.

If we went 12-0 and averaged 6 pts a game, Id be good with that.

well, I've never really got legitimately angry to the point I was heckling my own players at a game due to defensive lapses.

I have yelled at our own players at offense, quite angrily

I'll always take a better defense.

Someone alluded to it ... why is the offense bad?

If it's bad simply because you don't have the horses ... so be it ... perhaps the other teams' defense will simply be better and stop you.

If an offense consistently stops itself due to incompetence, lack of creativity, false starts/BS penalties, delays of game/wasted timeouts, stupid-arse play calls that prevent any chance of success (i.e. fullback dive on 3rd and 12 vs 8 in the box), etc. ... the heck with that.

In general, I think most casual fans would rather see a shoot-out vs. a low-scoring defensive battle.

So you liked 13 over 11?? What is wrong with you young guys and this "want" to have a big 12 offense?? Defense wins championships period.

Lack of speed or power, over throws, inability to run, block, etc not necessarily turn overs and penalties.

I compare watching some Saints games this season to some LSU games. Watching the Saints inability to stop anyone was unbearable. Not as bad with LSU when the D came to play.

In the modern era of football very good defenses can score points on the best of defenses. It isn't a matter of bad D or bad O. You need a good offense nowadays and quite frankly, it takes a unique amount of stubbornness to not have at least that with a program like LSU.

I like watching both offense and defense when I feel they are playing up to their potential.

Me too.

A good defense will beat a good offense, imo.

Oh how I miss honey badger causing havoc against the likes of Geno Smith at West Virginia and the whole Oregon team. I'll go with Defense errday

I have to agree...feels like getting violated.

Bad O is just boring but bad D is painful.

A bad defense is far more frustrating. A good defense can keep the game winnable til the 4th quarter.

If the record will be the same either way, I guess bad defense is more entertaining. But generally a good defense > good offense
