Would a smaller college DC like Lance Guidry be in play...

IF his son J Jackson would have chosen to sign with LSU.
A few of us were discussing bringing up a coach with success from lower school but with a lot of connections in Louisiana and success as a DC. It came up obviously cause Ed O was at Mcneese before he ended up at Tenn and recruited Jackson to spurn us at the alter

hindsight now says that, but when he was starting as a freshman we didn't think that.

No. Guidry tried to "step up" to Miami of Ohio as defensive backs coach, then went to Western Kentucky as DC, and was fired there, and now hes back at McNeese St. No chance in hell.

Technically he was let go with the rest of the staff when Petrino took over so Petrino could hire his own staff. Served as interim head coach for bowl game after head coach left for South Florida job.
