Miles is betting his job on this hire. If we hire someone who comes in and can't have the defense performing at the same level Chavis had it or better, Miles is gone in 2 years. We simply can't afford any drop off in defensive production with no end of our QB situation in sight. So we either 1) make a good hire who is at worst an equal to Chavis or 2) make a bad hire, tough it out for 2 years, and move on to the next era for LSU football and hopefully get back to competing for championships.

If miles is on short time and has informed Alleva, well know with this hire.

I'm not worried about it, but I realize the effect this could have for years to come if we frick up

I think we will be okay though. IDK why people are so concerned with us not having a hire yet, its not that late in the game

I can't disagree...except that #2 is something that is worse than you make it out to be.

It would be MUCH better for the program for Miles to make a good hire, retire on his own terms, and have LSU transition to the "next era" as you say.

If the DC, whoever it will be, cannot field a top 20 D next year, LSU is going to be in trouble. Even with a new scheme, there is too much talent for that unit not to be successful.

I'm not worried, it's been less than a week. Miles knows he has to get this right

If it's a Steele/brick hire Miles doesn't give a shite anymore. Just mo. No offense.

I think the worst case scenario would be to have a mild drop off on defense and continue to win 8 or 9 games for the foreseeable future

I agree we should take our time to find the right guy but at the same time we have to worry about recruiting which ends next month. Im sure recruits on the defensive side of the ball want to know as soon as possible who theyre going to be playing for.
