Food Prices in Relation to Gas Prices

For years, the cost of produce has skyrocketed, and they've been telling us that it's not because of the product itself, but the shipping costs are going up due to rising gas prices.

Now that gas prices have plummeted and are almost half of what it used to be, I'll be my first born that bananas, for instance, won't drop down from 69 cents per lb., nor will anything else.

Thoughts?

I concur.

I suspect that prices will stay where they are for a good while. At this point, I don't see the motivation to lower prices.

I can tell you that flight prices haven't dropped either.

A liter of dasani bottled water is $1.99. A gallon of unleaded is $1.79.

The cost of gas is just a portion of the total costs to ship and transport food around. The prices can go down some but nowhere near the 40% drop that a barrel of oil has gone through
