Did spouses really sleep in separate twin beds back in the day?

I know for TV purposes this wasn't shown until the 70s, but was this really common practice? I see in watching Dick Van Dyke now and I Love Lucy it was portrayed as such.

Yep.

Grandparents had separate twin beds. I would sleep so much better if I had my own twin...

My GGP's did


Had separate bedrooms when they got older


I'd sleep better myself

Not really. My wife will go upstairs sometimes because I like it cold. Plus she snores. Best sleep in the world. Try it.

I like sleeping in the same bed. Ill be in the guest bedroom tonight though because of a head cold. I dont sleep well with a stopped up head. Anyone else go to separate rooms when sick.
