I drove my daughters Avalon on I-10 Monday and Tuesday. I knew it was fast because I test drove it but didn't realize just how fast. It burns rubber at a 35 MPH punch and pulls very hard past 100 MPH. Got to 128 and still had plenty left.

Is this normal for Avalons or is it just a hot one? Why didn't it shut down? It's frickin front wheel drive!

My parents have one and I think the transmission and handling are bad. It's a turd like our Camry was.

Years ago my Uncle bought a Toyota Cressida that was not meant for the US market. It was supposed to be sent to the Philippine market but it somehow wound up on the wrong ship. It had a different motor and none of the pollution controls that the US mandated.

Long story short, that thing hauled arse.

Here's a pic. This thing handles exceptionally well. Six speed transmission is quite smooth.

My aunt had an Avalon back in 95-96 and that thing screamed.....had the smoothest transmission I've ever driven

You put it on the floor and you'd look down and be going 100+ and never feel it change gears

Of course it is nothing compared to a Porsche 911 obviously

I got no way to verify but my uncle is not in the habit of lying.

I drove the car when I was a kid, it was damn fast.

Have you not driven a modern V6?

All the "grocery getters" haul arse when equipped with a V6. Altima, Camry, Accord, Avalon, etc. got 275+ hp.

Handling and FWD suck arse, but straight line speed they have. Torque steer is a bitch too.
