1. A team who has a starting QB that is a list cause.

2. A backup who who for whatever reason can't beat out the worst LSU starting QB decades.

3. A barely three star incoming freshman QB but let's face it, the kid could be the reincarnation of Manning and Les wouldn't start him over a junior AJ.

4. This means that bottom line is that we are very likely to be looking at two more years of AJ.

Chavis is in as good a position as anyone to know just how bad AJ is.

People don't negotiate hard for clauses in their contract they don't think will matter. Chavis has a better line than any this board regarding what to expect from LSU offensively.

You can argue all you want but you can't deny that is at least possible the dude may well be concerned that the next two years are going to be rough and wanted protection.

I think this has nothing to do with it.

It's money. And, he saw it as a sign of disrespect when LSU didn't up his offer.

If you think a fan's concerns about the current QB situation is why a successful defensive coordinator uproots his life to a new location, then you need to learn about perspective.

In think he wants out from under miles and is using this clause as a cop out. Can't see it being that big of a deal breaker on its own seeing as how it's pretty standard for any Assistant

That offense that held onto the ball for 38-40 minutes a game sure did make it tough on him.

LSU will return most of this defense...potentially 10 starters, but more likely 8 or 9. He's going to need to build great depth at A&M to keep the defense productive with that air raid style offense. Aggies will have better pass rush, but they'll be far worse everywhere else.

Sumlin has had a hard on for Chavis since they first played LSU. LSU's 3 best defensive performances the past 3 years may have all come against the aggies.

I didn't say concerns. What, you don't think Chavis capable of having concerns about our QBs?

A horrible QB can get a head coach fired.

No, he's a very good coach. He's not running to A&M because he thinks it's a better situation. Now, that's stupid.

He wanted the Miles clause gone. You don't negotiate for that for no reason.

If Im Chavis I cant possibly think that I can succeed the same at A&M as I did at LSU. If Im Chavis I know that my style of defense REQUIRES my team's offense to give my guy a breather. At LSU the 3 and outs hurt him but LSU did run clock with its running game. At A&M their style of offense is 10x worse.

This and the fact he knows that LSU could easily match the extra 300K; IF THEY WANTED TO. Which for better or worse, it appears they do not wish to. All in all, a very public way of saying, "It's been fun, have a nice life." Of course the fear is that LSU could do worse. Let's hope not, for the sake of the program but especially for the kids.

Chavis ego got brusied. He sees these HC's making all that jack and he thinks he deserves more money and much more respect.

I saw a side of John Chavis yesterday that I di not like even one bit.

He needs to move to aTm, a lovely drive from Knoxville through Texas backroads, 16 hours of pure ugly.

Some people don't know it when they are at the top...

I will not miss opponents of LSU running down the field to score on their first two possessions while Chavis figures out what they are doing or the prevent defense that prevents...victory!

Add that to his lack of composure yesterday....good riddance!

He's tired of losing to Bama on the last minute drives....at least with A&M, he gets to have a fresh start with a record of 0-0.

IF... and that's a big IF, there was a choaching shake up, do you really think Chavis would be worried about getting another job? Probably not. More than likely there is some kind of internal shite show that he wants out of. A&M may be better may be worse, but he saw it as a better situation.

EXACTLY.

The reasons may be unknown, but that Chavis, a guy who KNOWS FOOTBALL seems to think he just went to a better situation should at least make ya go hmmm
