Here's mine.

Current roster: offense

1. Restructure Brees (similar to what Brady just did).

2. Try hard to trade a guard. Whichever one we can trade. If a trade won't happen, release Evans (post June 1st...I think it may help with the cap, but I'm not sure).

3. Move Lelito to Guard where he should be playing.

4. Huge paycut for Colston. I mean really big. If that's not in the cards, cut bait. (For reference, I want to say Maclin was playing on a 1 yr / $5 million dollar deal, so no way I'd pay close to that.).

5. Let Ingram walk. I'm not sure I'd even make an offer. (I'll get to this in my draft part).

6. Meachem gone.

7. Cadet gone.

Defense:

1. No more Corey White for the love of God. See ya.

2. Hawthorne gone.

3. Try to work a low cost deal to keep Robinson. Maybe a 1 yr. prove it deal.

4. Trade Vaccaro. I'm sure I'll get blasted for this, but man was he bad this year. I mean putrid. I'll take a 3 for him. He has value, so trade him now before everyone else figures out he can't tackle. At all.

5. Low cost extension for R. Bush. I know he's under contract for another year, but doing it now may be cheaper than if he hits the market after next season.

Specials:

1. Paycut / Extension for Morestead. He's making way too much money for a punter.

2. Go out and find a quality veteran kicker that can kick a 50 yard FG (you know, like 99% of other NFL teams).

Draft:

1. Draft one of the best centers in the draft. The guy from Auburn is pretty good. Ditto on the guy from Oregon and BC. We need a day 1 starter here so we can move Lelito back to Guard where he belongs.

2. Stud MLB. We need a face of the defense. Someone like a Kuechly, Willis, etc. Big MLB. I don't want to see a 235lb MLB. I want a 260lb beast. *I think McKinney has Patrick Willis written all over him. (Could Willis be available for trade??). Rookie played really well for SF and they'll have Bowman back next year as well...just saying.

3. Tight End. We don't have a capable blocking TE on the roster right now. I really like Hill BTW. I think he's underrated. I wanted Fiedorwitz last year (Texans). Watson's days are numbered. We need more than Jimmy Graham here.

4. WR. If I'm the GM, our receiver group right now consists of Cooks, Stills, and the KR from Oklahoma. I have no faith in Toon (he blows), and its a possibility Colston is gone.

5. Tackle. I wouldn't take one as early as others are saying, but an underclassman who can watch for a year and take over for Strief the following year.

6. RB. I'm totally against paying veteran RBs. I say get some young, fresh legs in there and avoid using cap space overpaying for a guy like Ingram. Lots of good RBs can be found throughout the draft.

Free Agency:

1. Corner. Not a stud. A veteran who has experience playing press that won't break the bank. I'm done with drafting corners.

2. Kicker. Please God a kicker.

3. DL. I'll take a vet DL that can be in a rotation. Someone like Tommy Kelly.

Super long I know. I don't think our window is closed. We need some good drafting though to be competitive in the next few years.

***and can we please get another scatback? We missed having a RB in the Sproles/Bush role more than people realize.

This. If someone was offering a 1st in the 10-20 range, then sure, whatever. But I'd rather keep the guy, play him in the role that we did his rookie year, and have Bush play the other safety position with Byrd. Vaccaro can still contribute to this team, and is still pretty young. It would be dumb to cut bait on him now.

Which does 0 for cap space. We need cap space.

2. Try hard to trade a guard. Whichever one we can trade. If a trade won't happen, release Evans (post June 1st...I think it may help with the cap, but I'm not sure).

No sane GM is going to take our guards, so cutting Evans is the best option.

3. Move Lelito to Guard where he should be playing.

I'll pass on that

quote:

4. Huge paycut for Colston. I mean really big. If that's not in the cards, cut bait. (For reference, I want to say Maclin was playing on a 1 yr / $5 million dollar deal, so no way I'd pay close to that.).

his base salary is 6.9mil, 9.7 cap hit. You can imagine a 2-3mil pay cut.

quote:

5. Let Ingram walk. I'm not sure I'd even make an offer. (I'll get to this in my draft part).

Kind of gotta make an offer...you know, that is the realistic thing since he's a proven commodity now

quote:

6. Meachem gone.

7. Cadet gone.

well yeah...they should have been

quote:

1. No more Corey White for the love of God. See ya.

cutting him saves us squat. at best he's the #5CB and ST player.

quote:

2. Hawthorne gone.

everyone's been wanting this.

quote:

3. Try to work a low cost deal to keep Robinson. Maybe a 1 yr. prove it deal.

He's played well enough this year he can get a small contract.

quote:

4. Trade Vaccaro. I'm sure I'll get blasted for this, but man was he bad this year. I mean putrid. I'll take a 3 for him. He has value, so trade him now before everyone else figures out he can't tackle. At all.

No thanks, 2nd minimum.
One bad year, but if I'm trading someone I'm gonna break even as best as I can.

quote:

5. Low cost extension for R. Bush. I know he's under contract for another year, but doing it now may be cheaper than if he hits the market after next season.

I rather cut him outright. 0 dead money and we have a lot of safeties.

quote:

1. Paycut / Extension for Morestead. He's making way too much money for a punter.

he's actually making the value for a top 5 punter. Extension would be nice or just leave it alone and part ways down the line.

quote:

2. Go out and find a quality veteran kicker that can kick a 50 yard FG (you know, like 99% of other NFL teams).

trust me, not even 3/4 of the teams have a kicker that can hit >50yards that well

quote:

1. Draft one of the best centers in the draft. The guy from Auburn is pretty good. Ditto on the guy from Oregon and BC. We need a day 1 starter here so we can move Lelito back to Guard where he belongs.

well we kind of have to since there's no center in FA worth shite.

JG is actually the best blocking TE according to PFF.

4. WR. If I'm the GM, our receiver group right now consists of Cooks, Stills, and the KR from Oklahoma. I have no faith in Toon (he blows), and its a possibility Colston is gone.

You don't watch football. Toon has played well this year.

quote:

5. Tackle. I wouldn't take one as early as others are saying, but an underclassman who can watch for a year and take over for Strief the following year.

we're not cutting strief until after 2016. we gain nothing from cutting him until then. Now if draftin a tackle since we have shitty backups then sure another flyer pick.

quote:

6. RB. I'm totally against paying veteran RBs. I say get some young, fresh legs in there and avoid using cap space overpaying for a guy like Ingram. Lots of good RBs can be found throughout the draft.

I can go with that.

quote:

1. Corner. Not a stud. A veteran who has experience playing press that won't break the bank. I'm done with drafting corners.

"done with drafting corners", doesn't mean you should completely stop. teams catches lightning in a bottle once in a while.

quote:

2. Kicker. Please God a kicker.

I can dig it, or late round draft.

quote:

3. DL. I'll take a vet DL that can be in a rotation. Someone like Tommy Kelly.

Just don't break the bank

You don't want to go after a top 5 guard in FA (Iupati), big name WRs that need a 1yr prove it deal, and OLBs such as Worilds, Skuta, Graham, etc.

This is gonna sound inconsistent, but I actually think Hawthorne outplayed Lofton this season.

He might make a decent SS.

I'll take OLB > ILB
I'd go the other way.
I really want the prototypical athletic, smart QB of the defense ILB.
I know that's not realistic.

Don't know what you're looking at.
I'm seeing him as the 14th best run blocker.
Still, he's actually blocking rather well.

I think an overlooked position of need is DT.
Maybe Jenkins can get his head on straight and his weight down, but our stud DE's are gonna look bad if the DT's aren't eating blocks.

No I don't want to go after any big FAs. Including guards. We need to build through the draft.

Anybody that thinks Jimmy is a good blocker is the one not watching football. I guess it helps when he's blocking the 190 lb corner on him. Not a good blocker at all. Which is why he's not in the game on more running plays.

Toon blows dude. Face it. He's just not that good. We need better.

As for the "nobody will trade for Evans" statements... I'm pretty sure New England traded Mankins (high cap #) earlier this year. Very similar. I'd take what they got for Mankins...who's also on the decline.

If Vaccarro was better playing rover or whatever you want to call it, he would have been doing more of it. Doesn't change the fact that he can't tackle. Since we are referencing PFF scores, what was his again? Now he's in his 3rd season. Guess what? He'll be a FA before you know it and we'll get nothing when he leaves. Just like Jenkins. I'll take Bush over him all day, everyday.

Corey White sucks. Regardless of where he plays. What was his PFF score out of curiosity?

We play more 4 man fronts than 3, which means we're playing 2 lbs. We need a beast ILB more than an OLB if we are going to continue to line up as a four man front.

I meant on our team, I haven't looked for the PFF numbers as of late, but I thought I saw early on a lot more red from Watson than Jimmy.

A top 5 guard in the league who hits FA, that doesn't happen very often. Especially since its deathly important to the success of the team, sounds like a smart investment to me.

Nick Toon is enough to be a 4th WR. What do you want to spend another high pick on WR when your problem lies in your LB corp, OL, and secondary?

Mankins didn't play THIS bad compard to Evans.

He missed what 4 tackles all of last year and this year he played bad so that means he can't tackle. We should just trade everyone since everyone's bound to leave.

White sucks, he's the worst rated DB in the league, but you gain nothing from cutting him only to replace him with another minimum guy that might suck as equally. He's still a solid ST contributor and might be better at SS, his natural position before we threw him to the dogs.

Lofton is sure fine as an ILB, but we don't have an OLB or an athletic LB worth crap on this team.

You want to build through the draft, but that doesn't mean you ignore FA completely. You get what you get from where you can get it. Good teams don't fix ALL of their problems by just drafting well alone. Not New England, not Denver, not Seattle, and definitely not us.

lots of hate on this thread against someone who actually offers something other than "Should we.... (no message)". Why don't all you angry little gnomes settle down a minute and give the dude a break

I'm not going through each detail here that you have posted (it's quite a lot), but I'm about 50% in agreement with you. The one point you make that is absurd is "Let Ingram walk. I'm not sure I'd even make an offer". This is silly. The guy performed the way he was expected to when drafted, and now you want to just let him walk without any contract offers? For a RB position that is cheaper than a Chef Menteur hooker??? You don't pay him a ton of money, but you absolutely must try and bring him back for a cost efficient price
