Works for my friend's mutts. They have to be brushed every other day and you can still build an extra dog after doing so.

I have a lab which I guess you could call it a short hair. Works great on him.

I grab a large furball off my lab mix, but I feel like I still have to do it every other day

They work great for getting loose hair off but they won't cure shedding. Having said that, we use one often on our dog and our local veterinarians recommend them highly.

I just ordered the one from Dak Pets. Thousands Amazon reviews claimed it was better than the furminator, was I duped?

I use one on my lab/brittany spaniel mix. It's amazing how much hair that thing gets off. It definitely works, but it's something you have to do every week or two to really make a difference with shedding in the house. I'm lazy and end up only doing it when she gets a bath. I get a few days of reduced shedding, then it's back again. You just have to stay on top of it like regular brushing. This just gets more out, faster.
