I was fishing Lake Fork a few years back, I hear this guy in another boat screaming hooping and hollering, carring on like Jimmy Houston having multiple orgasms, pulls up about a 3lb bass like it was the biggest fish he caught... All that crap makes for better tv..

This leads into another discussion: the d-bag "professional tournament fisherman" who thinks he owns the water.

I digress...

I fish a lot. I've fished lots of tournaments. I've never seen this.

Man as a kid, as far as I was concerned, if you didn't have a DR85, you weren't a duck hunter.

and the people looked down on you for not using a cane call, does that make you less of a duck hunter?

shite, no one, and I mean no one despises the DC folks more than me. But I have my own reasons for that...the show and the merchandising only reinforced my choice to dislike.

More people hunting is good. there is not one person here that hasn't peeked at a working group or had a pair come out of nowhere and look up right at em and say 'shite'. If someone wants a mask, the newest camo, the camoed gun, the face paint, who cares. They will get better, they will get smarter, they will be duck hunters.

20 years from now they will be bitching about the new guys.

Yeah, I've had people tell me "you're fishing in my spot" all serious... I usually tell them they need a faster boat, or you must've forgot your "reserved for me" sign..

I guided goose hunts in early 80s. We gave our customers a choice face paint mask or mud....

Because they were going to look up

Yeah I learned on a Haydel's DR-85 and a wooden Faulk's when I was 12, I was terrible then not much better now, but I'd rather be the whistle guy anyway.

I have 3 DC calls on my lanyard or in my blind bag, teal, woodie, and a whistle. I don't hate the Robertson's, and I don't blame them for profiting off their likeness. I just don't like what the media and merchants did to the brand, you couldn't go in a gas station without seeing Uncle Si, but I'm not someone who is dedicated enough to go hunt the weekend on public land so what do I know.

I never have painted my face, my nephew started it this year. I call it make up about once a day and he goes nuts.

'its not make up, it is paint. My Dad says I have a pink pie face and gotta do something about it'

He says the same thing every single time, to the word. It cracks me up.

People act like dc is some new company, my second call was a Reacher. My brother had one so I heated up an icepick and tried to carve my name in it! I jacked it up and eventually just melted circles around it...my Dad called it a drillbit. Still got it, but blowing it can make a man pass out.
