I am being told that it sometimes tastes like mud and/or algae.

Maybe I'm spoiled, but WTF?

It comes from reservoir lakes. I doesn't bother me but I do hear complaints.

it's 2014 and you don't have filtered water through your fridge?

California water I used to drink also came from reservoirs but it was always good. Is it a matter of getting the right quality of infrastructure in place to process and deliver clean, pure water?

In assuming the algae is dead.. right?

Wouldn't in be "scum" if it was dead, just asking?

Don't want to put you off water, but I've had sex in Lake Lavon. Peed in Lavon, Chapman and Possum Kingdom. Just sayin'.

There's a historic drought going on in texas. Couple that with the fracking boom and most of the lakes in the western 2/3 of the state are mud puddles.

I don't taste the water whenever I'm in the north dallas burbs. Beer, wine, bourbon only.

Yeah but water can be treated. Maybe it's a cultural thing in Texas where it's just not a priority. It's kind of disappointing, I guess.

Sure you can filter your drinking water but the idea of bathing in greenish water, brushing my teeth with it, etc and having it coat/crust up everywhere is unappealing.

I've lived all over and have come to appreciate the good water that BR has. The water out west from drought areas is not that great but it's always super clear and never muddy or algae'd. My complaint about that water is that the processing they do to it leaves a chlorine-like taste in the water but it was still great for being out of reservoirs.

It's always tasted like arse to me for the entirety of the 28 years I visit, including yesterday. It tasted the same. To be fair, Southern Louisiana has notoriously tasty tap water.

So that was you on CityData Dallas and the Reddit Dallas forums asking the same question about water and bugs?

I live in Lakewood and I honestly have no idea what the water tastes like here b/c I drink bottled water.

Ok, I can absolutely tell you for certain that the water at my house and at friends' houses in N. Dallas, Richardson, Plano, Frisco, Allen, Rockwall, Sachse and Carrollton is not green at all. It's clear just like anywhere else. It does not coat or crust up on anything. I'm from New Orleans and I don't notice anything different about this water here other than it does taste different from what I gather when brushing my teeth. Not bad. Just different.
As for green water, it sounds like someone is fricking with you
