Will the "true Saints fans" explain why winning today is important?

Since I'm not a "true fan", would someone please logically explain why winning today was of any importance?

For me, picking 7 or 8 vs 13 or 14 EVERY round seemed to be the smarter choice. It would benefit the organization moving forward. I thought I was thinking as a true Saints fan, but apparently I'm not.

Anyone care to explain why? Save the "one player doesn't make a difference" as I have already explained we get a better pick every round.

I get why the coaches and players wanted to win.
They have jobs to think about.

But fans?

Exactly, I'm asking why those super fans out there wanted the win and why we're not "true fans" for wanting the team as a whole to benefit from higher draft picks.

Because we suck at drafting so I'd rather win than lose. It's not like the win costed us 15 spots.

ETA: And let's not act like your side hadn't been using the "true fan" stuff as well.

So because we suck at drafting, we might as well win and put the FO in a worse predicament at picking.

That makes no sense, at all.

Not scoring on that drive would have been nice.

It doesn't make a big difference. It is marginally worse. Not enough to give a shite over.

Fair enough point, but

It cost us at least 5 spots and even with some bad history at drafting in the 1st, do you not think the 2nd, 3rd, 4th round those extra 5 spots wouldn't matter?

"My side"? This is my first post on this subject, but it's absolutely mind boggling people don't understand a top 8 pick is better than a top 13 pick.

from 7 to 13/14 at every round.

The difference between 7 picks can be between the #1 rated DT/OT/OLB/DE/CB to the 3rd highest, it can be a big difference.

That numerical difference was the difference is between us having to trade for Brandin Cooks or not.

For starters, why the frick risk injury with Brees and Co? Stills was limping at the end. Graham has been crying all season about a bum shoulder. What would you guys have said if Brees tore his ACL?

This win did absolutely NOTHING for the Saints. Nothing.

how about not playing Brees+co in the 2nd half with nothing at risk. Playoff teams that are locked in their spot sit their starters in week 17. We have nothing to play for, so why do we play all 4 quarters?

It was a "Tankfest" as the Bucs wanted to tank more than the saints today.
