Is it just me, or is LeBron starting to decline before our eyes? Yes, he's still getting his stats so maybe this is a reach. Maybe he's hurt, who knows.

I've watched him closely since he came into the NBA, and he is having a really tough time bulldozing his way to the rim with his athleticism like he used to.

He rarely dunks. He doesn't play defense at an elite level anymore. His blocks have dropped. His rebounds have dropped.

What gives? Is he conserving his energy for the playoffs?

Keep in mind, this guy has played more basketball than anyone on the planet the last four years and was Mr. Do it all for the Heat so this is completely understandable. He's a Top 10 player of all-time in my book.

Could be conserving. I'll reserve judgment until I see what he plays like in the playoffs.

It's possible, but his stats are still elite and have improved since the beginning of the year. Besides his stats declined his first year in Miami too, then improved dramatically. There will be growing pains across the board.

i think hes done playing 82 games a year as hard as physically possible. going forward, all that will matter is titles. he'll save enough gas in the tank to peak in the 2nd season.

Completely new team, coach and teammates. It takes time to adjust. Just about everyone else on the Cavs is a career loser.

But people want read a lot into this season because he turns 30. Obvious decline, right? The GOAT was still the best player in the league at age 35.

There might be something to the idea that his AIDS/diet effort to lengthen his career actually weakened his game a bit.

I think the best Lebron we will ever see is two years ago. That is the apex of his ridiculous peak.

I definitely think he's past his peak, but he's still a great player. He's struggling to mesh in a new system, and defensive effort is something he should be able to turn up in bigger games, but I think he also knows his body is a little bit more feeble than it used to be. He's played in 4 straight finals and a Summer Olympics. That will take it's toll on anybody. I expect him to kick it up a notch later in the season, but I don't expect him to ever have the same lift on dunks and chase down blocks. I hope I'm wrong though.

Games font really matter right now. With that said, I hate that he went on that paleo diet. He lost his mass and can't just push guys around like he used to

In the land of the highlight which we live in.... we expect him to have one almost every time he comes down the court. He's dominant. Enjoy it.

We are 27 games into the season. We still have a little more than two-thirds of the season left to play and he is still playing at an elite level (25.5 points/game, 7.5 assists/game, 5 rebounds/game).

I'm not sure it's fair to conclude that he's starting to decline. Though his statistics are noticeably a little more down than when he made the transition from Cleveland to Miami, there seems to be a relationship between the years he transitioned into a new team.

I wouldn't overly concern myself with LeBron and his decline, but it will inevitably be brought up.

He's become much lazier on defense, which from what I could see started last year. When he misses a shot he's the last guy back on D 90% of the time, usually he just kind of pauses after a miss and then jogs back. I don't recall him playing that way earlier in his career. Just doesn't seem to play with the same overall energy and intensity as he used to, who knows why. Maybe he is just conserving himself.

He obviously peaked two season ago and he's 30 now. It's only natural to see some decline. The days of him being far and away the best player in the world every single game are over.

That being said there was the supposed back issue early in the season and in the past month or so his numbers are approaching what you'd expect from him.

With the disclaimer that I've only watched a couple of Cavs games so far this season, he is still their most impactful defender. With him on the court they're around league average in DRTG; with him off they're about as bad as the Lakers.

He can still post up and get to the rim just about anytime he wants to. Very minimal decline. He just seems weird to me. Like the Christmas day game against the Heat he shot right at 50% from the line, missing 8 of them. Jordan would never miss 8 free throws in a game. Jordan is and always will be the GOAT.
