Had a great game today against the illini. Didn't even know he played at La. Tech. Looked up his bio and said he got his degree from Illinois and then finished his football career at La. Tech. I just remembered him leaving LSU after he was going to be grey shirted. Just wanted to say congrats to the young man for his success after leaving LSU.

I think you're kinda right. I believe (not certain) that he was offered a gray shirt, but never committed. Then went to Illinois before coming back to Tech.

I just remember his name from a few years ago and thought it was great he finished his degree and got props on ESPN today. La. Kid that succeeded even after leaving LSU. Maybe I should have posted elsewhere.

The name everyone knows, even though he's done nothing to be known

He committed I believe, but then LSU came back with a gray shirt offer and pissed him off.

LSU coeds were never going to be ready for the Houston Bates pain train. We are all better off.

He had 4.5 sacks and another taken away by a flag. Kid had a monster day.

This is correct.

There is a minority report, however, that says the offer from LSU was always a gray shirt and Houston Bates jumped the gun by publicly claiming a full bona fide offer.

I believe the quoted statement above is the accurate version.

He's a good player should of been a Tiger, but better off going elsewhere and having the indignity of PWI and suffering all the high motor, gym rat, football IQ cracks.

He would never have played much at LSU. By going to Illinois he was able to play a lot and have a decent college career. He wrapped it up with an extra year at LA Tech and beat his old team in a bowl game.
