just got back and I would try to make a reservation at Batard if you have time. Excellent food, good service and an awesome lively space. Also do sushi at 15 east at the bar with Masa or at the bar in Brushstroke.
We also ate at Juni and Brooklyn Fare. Both were excellent, but the Juni space is kind of sad. It doesn't match the level of food. We enjoyed Brooklyn Fare more. Ko is an interesting experience, but BF is better. The classic Jean George's tasting menu is also fun and romantic. There are also a ton of regional Italian places that are great plus wonderful dumpling and arepais places for lunch that I don't have the names on me now.

I just got back too. 3 nights, 3 awesome meals:
Buddakan (in Chelsea). Outstanding Asian-French fusion. Show stopper.
Blue Ribbon Brasserie (West Village). Great, small, local's type place. They say the chefs from the great NYC restaurants go there to eat and hang out after they get off. We went for 9:45 on a Monday night. Get bone marrow. Grilled sardines a winner as was sweetbreads and escargot.
Piora (West Village). Fabulous northern Italian cuisine. Very top notch but small neighborhood like feel- kinda like Lillette in NO.
We also ate well for lunch: Grimaldi pizza at foot of Brooklyn Bridge, Chinatown place with only asians in it/ no english, and Eataly at the 14th floor place- very good.
Diet next week...............
