It's Absolutely Ridiculous to Have a Championship Wk 17 of the NFL Season

Anyone else feel like it doesnt make sense to have a championship this week instead of last week. The two teams arent really what they have been all year with some elite players resting and some teams tanking because they already have the playoffs all wrapped up. (Indy last wk vs Cowboys). I will never understand this. Why do some leagues do it?

The leagues that do it have commish that just don't know any better. I don't know of any serious leagues that do it. I have some friends that are in a couple but they are either free leagues or filled with a bunch of first timers.

There are pros and cons to each method. I prefer playing wk 17 for a couple reasons. I wanna use the whole season. If there's football being played, I wanna be playing FF because it's fun. I also like the 2-week matchup better because the results are less fluky. Anything can happen in 1 week. I don't wanna dominate my league all year just to have a couple of mid to lower level players on my opponents team go off for 25+ points and it cost me a championship.

I'd rather have a 2 week championship span weeks 15 and 16. Just don't want to have to plan around having good players sit in week 17.
I think I may try to set this up for one of my leagues next season.

I dont want to have a scenario where I dominate my league all year and my stud is getting half reps or being benched in the 3rd qtr (Luck last week, no I didnt have him but I played against him). Mid to lower level players on an opponents team going off is MORE LIKELY the later the championship round is so that doesnt make much sense. Also, if an opponent has mid level players that have good wks, then it's possible that he has a better overall team with more depth. For the sake of flukiness, the earlier the championshi wk is (wk 16 like it should be), the more true the outcome will be where studs arent being benched.

I concede the point that players who are rested wk 17 is somewhat unfair to a fantasy team but the chances of that hurting you more than a couple of fluky good or bad performances is smaller. There's not that many teams that that affects. And even if it does, teams should be deep enough to absorb that, even in 12-14 team leagues. If there is a great owner who is diligent over the course of the season and builds his roster through the draft and the waiver wire, his biggest threat to not win the championship is fluky good or bad performances in a 1 week matchup. There are pros and cons to each side but let's not act like the week 16 championship is the be all end, without a doubt, best way to settle a league championship.

Mid to lower level players can go off at any time. It's no more or less likely to happen in week 17 than 16.

Possible? Yes. But not more likely. They could be the best players on the team.

When your team of "studs" shits the bed and your opponent's mediocre team goes ape shite one week, even outscoring your opponent by 40 in week 2 won't save you. True story. Happened to me

Arguing why the championship is better in week 16 than 17 is like arguing PPR is better than standard.

Last year the guy that played Kniles Davis won the championship in my league. Why not introduce even MORE randomness to the equation?!?

I still like the way my league is structured. No playoffs, just a 17 week season-best record wins. In case of ties, the team with the most total points for the year wins. There is way too much randomness in a one or even two week playoff. In week 17, it's even for everyone. Owners have to read and make decisions about their team and who might sit or not play a whole game. If there's NFL football being played, I want to be playing fantasy.

This is how I would like it.
