A number of teams have inquired about the availability of Nuggets small forward Wilson Chandler, reports the Denver Post. The team wants to keep him and has told him so, but things could change if Denver decides to retool for the future.

Gordon makes more than Afflalo and Chandler combined.

That's why the Pelicans are stuck in mediocrity (in the West) for the near future.

Maybe, but not necessarily. There are conceivable moves that could upgrade this roster for 2015-16 with Gordon still on board. And 2016-17 has real possibilities. The West is a tough row to hoe, though, no doubt.

Do you all think we move Gordon's expiring contract next year for a 3 or do we attempt to get one in FA?

I'm sure having AD and a decent core makes us more attractive to FAs than previously, but I am nervous we'll whiff or overpay in free agency.

We really won't have money to spend beyond the MLE if we re-sign Asik at 10-12 mill and keep everyone we have now.

So I DEFINITELY think we will sign a MLE SF this offseason at the very least.

Have to use it as a trade asset, IMO.

Ryan Anderson and Davis both become free agents at the end of the 2015-16 season, Ryno being an UFA and Davis a RFA.

Plus Asik becoming a FA after this season.

Two of the three will be back in 2016-17.

Traded for Jrue, good salary and good player
Signed Tyreke, bad contract for an above average player.

Make the trade.

MLE SF

I've read somewhere that the MLE $$ won't rise with the cap. If that is true, what wings will be willing to take it? That is, if I'm a Green or Wilson Chandler, why go for an MLE when guys like Meeks and Ariza are getting more?

Expirings are not trade assets unless you're taking on a known bad contract. For instance if we actually wanted Joe Johnson. Other than that, you get paid to take on useless players which isn't the stage of development this team is at.

If Demps and Monty don't get fired this offseason I expect Gordon to get stretched or packaged with a future pick. It's really the only way to fill the hole at SF short of trading Ryno or Reke (both of which are on the table too IMO).

It won't. It used to be tied to the average salary, but I just looked it up and they did change that in the new CBA

In the previous CBA the Mid-Level exception was tied to the average salary. This is no longer the case.

Found it on Coon. It's a 3% increase starting at $5M in '11/12 and ending at $6.35M as starting salary in 20/21.

I don't see a good wing doing that in this market

The Pelicans have virtually no wiggle room because of the contracts of Tyreke, Jrue, Davis and either Asik or Anderson or both after the 2015-16 season.

They have to use Gordon's contract as an asset, even if that means taking on a bad contract; they're stuck.

That's extremely dumb.

That drys up a lot of avenues for teams like us.

Right, you'd max out at DeMarre Carol. I don't think they can afford to wait until 2016 which means something is happening with Gordon/Reke/Ryno in the next 7 months.

Considering virtually all the moves that Dell has made have been some kind of trade, its pretty easy to predict that any future moves will be a trade.

And you also have to factor in that if Dell is fired, then a guy might come in and make EVERYONE but AD available.
