Merry Christmas - not going to engage in hate arguing about Miles v Saban on Christ's Birthday.
Have a great day with your family.

2002.
Sandwiched between an SEC Championship and a BCS National Championship.
Saban shite the bed spectacularly.
It happens.

umm, it was 4. Auburn, Mississippi ST, Alabama, and Arkansas. I'm not blasting him but at least use correct facts.

Had the sec west not been total shitn he would've failed massively in 2001 too with a huge amount of nfl talent. Lucky for him and us,3 losses could win the west in 2001

2013 is the year Miles gets blasted for losing 3 games with so much nfl talent. Try and keep up

Did all those players go to the league in 2002 and tear it up?

If not, then this thread is not exactly "spot on".

Thanks i just wanted to point out how Saban walked into a lsu program stacked with nfl talent and he lost at least 3 games every year but once and he has demi god status on here while Miles gave lsu fans its most successful 10 year stretch ever and he has moron status. Posters on here act like Saban walked into a lsu program that had nothing but walk ons while the truth is Saban had some of the best players at their position in lsu history.

Should have gone back to back. Why was Matt Mauck still in the game late during a blow out at Florida???

Another ridiculous rantard myth.

If you think Mauck was going to stop us from getting our shite pushed in by Bama or Auburn in 2002, you are dumb as dogshit. And if we somehow lucked into ATL again the way we did in 01, UGA would have fricking embarassed us.

Our defense was TERRIBLE in 02, just like it was in 2001.

I was at the Florida game, and it was awesome, especially giving the annihilation Grossman and Spurrier put on us in 01. But UF was not good that first year under Zook, so we put too much stock inthat win at the time.

Go back and look, we were 5-1 with a loss to VTech and wins over Citadel, UL, and Miami OH, Miss St.

We weren't winning shite in 02 with or without Mauck.

D got trashed by Bama, Auburn, Texas, and Kentucky (shouldn't have needed the Bluegrass Miracle, offense was very good that day) and shite the bed at the end of Arkansas.

Honestly, the turnaround from 02 to 03 on defense is one of the better coaching feats I've seen.

There is a reason we started ranked like 15 even though Mauck was healthy again.

Awesome thread btw.

Yes. They did.
Bradie James
ROHAN davey( every bit as good as Mett he just played behind tom brady)
JOSH Reed
Jarvis green
La brandon Toefield
DOMINIK davis
Trev faulk
Kendrick allen
Robert royal

All went to the nfl from that team

miles isnt my hero. He isnt a great game day coach

bull f'ing shite. Miles is a great game coach, he gets his teams up and ready to play better than anyone. Look what he did against Bama with a far inferior team talent wise. Lost due to lack of a passing game and a stupid penalty. He's a great developer of talent. A fairly good but not great recruiter. His players love to play for him. His only real weakness seems to be on offense which he realized and hired Cam to come in and fix.

I think miles is a borderline top 15 coach

dude you really are a negatiger at heart if you think MIles is just a top 15 coach. If I thought that, with what we are paying him, I would be calling for his head. NO wonder you are so safisfied with mediocrity and defend it so hard.

Ill never understand how a defense sucked with
Bradi James
TREV faulk
Corey webster
Marcus spears
Jarvis green
Chad lavalais
KENDRICK ALLEN
Jack Hunt
Ryan clark

And their coach was/is considered a defensive mastermind

Thats called a MOTIVATOR, not a game day coach.game day coach is a tactician. Like Belichik.

Holy shite

Im a realist. None of the coaches above Miles are leaving their program. Miles doesnt have to be a top 5 coach if he surrounds himself with great Assistants and he has.

What have we done that is mediocre? Finishing ranked #2 out 126 isnt mediocre(2011), finishing #12 out of 126(2012) isnt mediocre, finishing # 14 out of 126(2013) isnt mediocre.
Aside from Dukke you may be the dumbest poster on this site. Your repeatedly say shite that is flat out wrong. Hell you argued that there is no such formation as an offset i formation.

2002 was like two different defenses, pre and post Damien James. He left, we collapsed. I was so confused.

Its really is a shock that we lost 3 games in 2001 with players that are some of the best ever, at their position, at lsu.

Rohan Davey , IMO is a top 5 alltime qb st lsu
Josh Reed is the best wr ever at lsu
Michael Clayton is a top 5 wr and wouldve broken every career wr record had he stayed 1 more year.
Bradie James is top 3 all time lb
Trev Faulk is top 6-7 alltime lb
Marcus spears
Corey webster are alltimers at thier positions as well.
I had forgotten how unbelievably stacked we were in 2001.

The backloaded schedule may have had something to do with that too. :

Bama, Auburn, UT >>>> Citadel, UL, Miss State

The Devil is in the details. Three false narratives that kill me :
1. When Saban got to LSU the cupboard was bare.
2. Dale Brown should have won the tourney when he had Shaq and CJ on the same team.
3. Les Miles only wins with Saban's players.

But a lot of people hate FACTS with every fiber of their being, so it will persist, facts be damned.

At least they won an SEC Championship.

So, it's ok to win an SEC title with 3 L's, but there is something belittling to win a NC with 2 L's? Talk bout backing in to win a championship.

I think that yr. goes to show how very weak the SEC was at that time, in comparison to the last 10 yrs., and how much more difficult winning the SEC has become.

LSU fans have become so spoiled and entitled in their SEC/college football thought process, that many have become delusional to the point they seek to find ways to discredit 103-28, 58-26 with 3 west titles, 2 SEC titles, 2 BCSCG appearances, and a NC.

If there is something glaringly wrong with those kinda results, surely there must be 10-20 programs doing better since 05.....right.
