Well I think it's time to finally get a gaming pc. I know nothing about them and don't feel like doing the required the research to build one. I want to know what pc can I buy with or without pheripals for under a grand already built, off the shelf. I don't know what I plan on playing yet, but I want it to be well rounded. Thanks for any help.

Today's deal on ibuypower, I had one in the past with no issues. If you really don't want to build then that's who I would recommend.

Intel i5-4690K Processor
8GB DDR3-2133 Memory
AMD Radeon R9-270X 2GB
2TB Hard Drive
14X LG Blu-ray Rewriter
Windows 8.1

How much money are we really talking about saving when building vs buying? I can physically put one together, I think ( I've changed disc drives and hard drives before) but I just have no idea what to buy.

I built my first one last spring. It was a lot simpler than I thought it would be, just read the guide by ilikelsuto and ask some questions. You'll get a hell of a lot more pc for your money.

You could build a solid pc for a grand. Just buy what ILikeLSUToo tells you.

Post your budget in the pinned PC thread and ILikeLSUToo will hook you up. It's easy to put one together, the only hairy part is putting in the CPU and not bending pins, but they do what they can to make it as easy as possible, then the only other hard part it making sure you connect all the wires correctly.

All you need is a screwdriver for the most part.

I've glanced at it. I'll look at it again. It's not out of date?

Awesome.

That's a shame. I can pick out parts for a $1000 gaming PC for you in a couple of minutes, and then it's literally a 45-minute video on learning to assemble some things with your hands and a screwdriver.

Pick two.

A lot for what you'll get

ILikeLSUToo will be around at some point to put a good $1k build together for you

Mine cost about $800 (already had monitors and kbm). My kbm is old and kinda sucks but it gets the job done. I just say that to say you don't need to spend $200 on peripherals. Something simple works just fine, so use that money on the actual build

Well if I had to pick two I'd say well round and under a grand.. I'm currently on page nine of your manual. So far I'm very impressed, it's pretty obvious you are very passionate about this subject. If you are offering to piece together for me I'll gladly take you up on that.

No, I did a substantial update right after the 980 and 970 were released. Nothing else significant has happened since then.

GPU in this build will translate to about double the gaming performance of that ibuypower.

Don't hate me, some people just don't want to seem to build.

No I'm glad you posted it. It's the perfect example of about the best you'll get from a prebuilt at that price, and it's easy to show how a correctly configured custom build will shite all over it in both performance and component quality.

Just as bad as ibuypower.

Preemptively, any other gaming pc brand you ask about under $2000, same thing applies.

he is saying that if you want the best bang for your buck, build it yourself. Buying any prebuilt pc from any place or website will not be optimized and will be more expensive

I am saying that no matter where you get a pre-built gaming pc, the fact is that they are either overpriced, poorly configured, or both. There are no exceptions to this.

By poorly configured, I mean that it doesn't have the proper balance of hardware for the budget. They favor marketing to the uneducated masses who are more likely to be enticed by CPU and RAM. For example, I've seen pre-builts with an i7, 16GB of RAM, and a GT 640 (a very weak GPU). And this will be labeled as a gaming pc. People like seeing i7s and excessive RAM and generally don't know much about GPUs. In reality the GPU is the most important component in a gaming PC.

So that's why I said, if you ask me about any other brands in lieu of building yourself, the answer is "don't do it." There are no exceptions when it comes to gaming desktops.
