Fiscal conservatives

who are tired of being sold out by politicians who talk big and then capitulate. Who are tired of the government growing no matter who is elected. Who want someone to fight, even if it makes them unpopular on Capital Hill. Who are tired of the media picking their candidates. Who aren't prepared to support Ted Cruz for president...
Why?
I've never volunteered or participated politically beyond voting, but if he declares, I am going to work for the guy.
He's the first politician in my lifetime, who shares my fiscal beliefs, that is doing what he said he would and doesn't give a frick.
So why isn't he the prohibitive favorite among those who want real small-government change?

I'm a huge Ted Cruz fan so I can't answer your question.

Republicans sold out fiscal conservatism for Jesus asvd crazy.
Don't see that genie getting back in the lamp anytime soon.

In my book Ted Cruz is the man. One of the few in Washington who didn't lie to his constituents just to get elected. Sure, he may not fall in line with every touchy feely social issue that somehow has become the basis for electing politicians in this country but he's smarter than nearly everyone else in Washington.
The establishment GOP hates him and the media hates him. How can you not love this guy?

Look at his donor list.
He ain't a small government conservative.
He got a lock on crazy though, so he'll probably go far in today's GOP.

Name one GOP candidate who is a smaller govt conservative than Cruz? Go ahead try.

That explains why he might not win, it doesn't explain why the average Joes that wants change, for a change, aren't all rallying behind this guy.
I really think a lot of the people who claim to resent the media picking GOP candidates won't go all in for Cruz because ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and MSNBC say he's crazy. All they have to do is marginalize the very few true conservative politicians and the people who support them and most people will back down.
It's embarassing.

Look at his donor list.
You can point to the inherent evils of political donors when discussing every politician in Washington. Unless the candidate is independently wealthy and bankrolls his/her own candidacy there are going to be donors of questionable character associated with every politician.
Just ask Harry Reid or the Clintons.

quote:Because there is nothing differentiating Cruz from hundreds of other Republican politicians. He's fundamentally a man of the red team mob. His principled federalism does not apply to social issues. His distaste for spending doesn't extend to war. In cases where his extravagant signaling ended up costing the taxpayer more, he shrugged and blamed the blue team louder.
Why?
His campaign will be a vast, Obama-esque blank slate onto which everyone can project their own interpretations of his platitudes. Who knows how he would actually govern.

not trying to pick on you, I imagine you believe in this concept but "fiscal conservative" does NOT mean "small government", it just means cheap govt, big govt that doesn't cost that much will work fine for a "fiscal conservative", if you actually want small govt, get away from the notions that people like Rush Limbaugh sell regarding "fiscal conservatives", the only philosophy that really delivers "small govt" is Libertarianism. Conservatives, both fiscal and social, are mostly just various forms of "their brand" of big govt, a conservative who truly want's less govt and more freedom is a Libertarian who just hasn't woke up yet.

I'm a big Paul fan. So, what is the difference between Paul's donor list and Cruz's donor list since that was the critique?

You asked who was more conservative. I answered. I didn't bring up anything about his donor list, so I don't need to defend any comments made about it.

You don't get it, do you?
It's not a comparison about those who are in office and campaigning. None of them are true fiscal conservatives and Cruz is no different.
If I give you 99 glasses of water with a turd in it that are each golf ball sized and I then give you a glass with a marble sized turd, is that smaller diarhhea cocktail suddenly better?
Cruz takes money from big money. Heck, I have a shite ton of more respect for Obama - who is a corporate stooge too - but he rustled the jimmies of a bunch of low income people. His donation list had a much more robust platform than the GOP did. He got elected bc he figured out a way to get into people's pockets.
Cruz doesn't want a small government bc he supports batshit social policies that cost money. He's willing to glad hand with money and offer favors in return. Rand is more likely to turn away big money. Not Cruz. Not a chance.
He's just the devil you don't know instead of the devil you do.

You didn't read the post above. You feel really stupid. I understand.
But Paul is not more conservative than Cruz. Try to keep up.
