Those racist cameras.

What happen to his civil right to try to shoot a cop? Racist.

Which is a shame. Now if we could get the protestors to be as outraged by these rather common occurrences as they are about a cop shooting a criminal, then perhaps progress could be made.

Yeah. I think state violence (when unwarranted) is worse than citizen committed violence. But the scope and volume of citizen committed violence in the cities is a little mind-boggling.

Fortunately, the store's surveillance cameras caught the shooting, but that still doesn't excuse the cop having both his body camera and car camera turned off. In this climate, especially so close to Ferguson, it's inexcusable for any policeman to have his cameras turned off. IMO, police departments that have issues car cameras and body cameras should make their use mandatory, and discipline any on-duty policeman caught with his/her cameras off.

This seems like a no-brainer. If there's an incident and there's no video, automatic discipline.

What was he doing there? If he was gassing up a cruiser and this guy pulled a gun I'm going for my gun first. I wonder if his agency even has policy on a body camera yet. Having said all that, if I was involved in a shooting, survived, had to kill someone, and then you want to discipline me...... Go ahead and give me the days for telling you to go frick yourself too.

Lol. Nothing the police do can ever be wrong.

The reason there are cams is to record. Getting disciplined for not having his camera on is the least of his worries. It doesn't change the fact that they should be on.

And he was responding to a report of stealing at the gas station.

Yeah, you are correct, but couldn't the animals stop for Christmas with their stupidity?

Yesterday we had a mall shooting down here. Seemed like two thugs got into it at a Footlocker and one shot the other in the head.

If it should be mandatory for ALL police to wear body cameras ALL of the time...then ALL crimes/violations should be pursued and ALL judges should have to accept the cases.

Some people seem to want cameras for a "gotcha" moment thinking they're going to correct out of control police. I'm guessing 99%+ of the time it's not the cop who creates the situation.

You can't have it both ways. If the cameras are there to watch the actions of the police then they should also be used ALWAYS as evidence against the criminals as well.

The police aren't the problem in the black community. A lack of personal responsibility and accountability top the list of problems. It's just much easier to blame someone else. They've learned that from the poser in the White House.

Yeah - I don[t think the people calling for body cams on cops are going to like the results. They will be the first ones yelling about discriminatory videoing.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is just stupid and anyone who says otherwise is a scummy liar.

The only way to meet the demands of the current cop-haters is to pull the police from any minority community and let them sort out their problems themselves.

Either that or create a perfect specimen of an ideal human being and clone him for use as policemen. Then prohibit these specimens from having families or friends so that they can be arbitrarily sacrificed, without mourning, at any time to meet the whim of whomever the thug is who needed arresting.

Its unfortunate that people feel they can pull gun/piece on cops or citizens.

It's inexcusable to do this, especially after 2 cops are assassinated earlier in the week.

That kid won a Darwin award for stupidity by pulling a gun on a law enforcement official.

Regardless of the race of either individual.

People need to grow up and be responsible. The cops need to do all of these things to prove their innocent when using force against citizens.

The USA goes the way of Europe and put CCTV's all over country to ensure all of the people are safe. These incarnation rate of these poor discriminated people will likely rise as there will be video proof of most incidents.

A lot departments do discipline for not having their cameras on, but safety is always first. I talk to a lot of people without my camera on. In this instance I can't say I would have had it on either. It looks like they approach him and they are just talking when the shite hits the fan. I can turn my camera on at anytime but I have to get into the car to do it. I am sure this officer wishes he had his camera on now.

Why don't you read the stats on the police departments that have initiated camera use and their use of force stats after?

So there's no legitimate complaints about the way police currently operate.
