Early in the season, a number of former Clemson WR were having very productive games and while Martavius Bryant was having a breakout game on Monday Night Football, Gruden commented that he would have loved to have coached the Clemson WR at Clemson. It wasn't a diss at Clemson or the coaching staff, but rather a complement, just like his comment was regarding the recent offensive talent at LSU.

That said, LSU's offensive, while very good, was no where as "prolific" as it should have been given the talent that was on the roster the last couple of years, and that simply goes back to the offensive philosophy of this staff.

Just take a look at the offensive talent that was on the field in the 2012 Peach Bowl who were on NFL rosters at the start of this season.

LSU had:

Mett
Landry
Hill
Beckham
Hilliard

Clemson had:
Boyd
Ellington
Hopkins
Watkins (injured after 1st play)
M. Bryant (suspended/did not play)
Jaron Brown

LSU came into the game with one of the best defenses in the country, but offense, statistically, pretty good. Clemson came into the game with one of the best offenses in the country, but an average at best defense.

Looking at the box score Clemson got 30 first downs, LSU 9. Clemson just about doubled LSU's offensive output yardage wise, despite Clemson's offensive talent going up against one of the best units in the country and LSU's talented offense going up against an average D.

Both Clemson and LSU put a lot of offensive talent in the NFL the last two years with these guys putting up big numbers/making plays every weekend. However, Clemson clearly got more "production" out of this talent during the entirety of their time in college when compared to the output/production LSU got from theirs.

If Chad Morris was calling the plays at LSU during this time, and Miles/Cameron were at Clemson, there's no doubt in my mind that Morris and LSU would have been putting up at least 50 points per game and a top 5 offense in the country and Clemson's offense wouldn't have been as prolific as they were.

Youre fricking stupid. Finishing in the top 15 and winning 10 games , while playing in the sec west, is a good season

No it isn't. Your standards are so low you think going to the Outback Bowl is a " Good Season" That kinda of fan thinking is going to keep LSU down.

If we aren't playing for the SEC Championship every couple of years we haven't accomplished didly squat.

5-3 & 4-4 in the SEC and crap bowl games is bullshite and mediocre. I have higher standards and expectations for LSU than to settle for that.

What? Nothing i think has any effect on the team what so ever. But finishing with 9 wins and in the top 20 is good considering its our DOWN year and we played the 2nd most true freshman in the entire sec.

You mean like 2 seasons ago when we were reigning sec champs? Thats not mediocre by any sane person's opinion.

In the last 3 seasons lsu has finished #2 out of 126 teams, #12 out of 126 teams,#14 out of 126 teams.
Its laughable that people like you believe its easy to win 10 games every year. Only 4 programs in all of cfb has won AT LEAST 9 games each pf the last 5 years. FOUR. AND LSU IS ONE OF THEM

If this is true, then Saban has 1 good year his entire tenure at lsu. His 2001 sec title, he had 3 losses

Lets break the production from 2013 down by position.

Qb- Mett was 260 yards away from throwimg for more yards, in a season, than any lsu qb,ever.
Rb- JHill had the 2nd best season as a lsu running back, EVER, and he set the sec single season ypc record.
Wr- lsu had 2 1000 yard wrs.

Now, if this isnt a great and prolific offense then LSU has never had a prolific or great offense. The only way our 2013 offense is better is if Mett breaks the lsu passing record and JHill breaks the lsu rushing record, IN THE SAME SEASON. Thats whats so funny. The only way an lsu offense is considered great is if the qb breaks a school passing record and the rb breaks the lsu single season rushing record.

problem with your thinking is we play in the SEC west, one of the toughest divisions in the country. We can't afford to be average nor expect to be. We need to stay at or near the top of that division. WE should be better than Miss ST, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Auburn and Texas AM. We should be in the thick of it with Bama. Bama out recruits us and nothing we can do about that but we can at least try to get the maximum potential out of what we do have. That's where we are lacking.

I think JaxTiger needs to print a 2013 yards per play shirt and wear it around town to convince everyone how prolific it was.

Miles inherited a football team that should have been Undefeated, one that was so good Saban knew he had a run at 3 NC's, that is why Miami had to offer the KEY's to the Miami Kingdom to get Saban(that's according to SKIP)Before LSU Miles had 2 losing seasons and 2 winning seasons and should have never been offered the LSU job. Skip would have done it different if he could do it over, Skip knows what's been left on the table

Wow. Yeah. Miles just had the best decade of lsu football, EVER and you think Miles shouldve never been hired? Les amiles has a top 5 win % in sec history and THE BEST ooc win% in sec history n but yeah we settled.
I hate our entitled and ignorant fan base.

You are confusing individual accomplishments with team ones.

For example. Which theoretical offense would be thought of as having a better running game.

A)Total rushing yards of 2200 with best RB getting 1700

or

B)Total rushing yards of 3000 with best RB getting 1300

Or, how about this.

What if A and B had the exact same rushing yardage output? Would you run around saying A had a better running game just because they had the highest yardage INDIVIDUAL??
