Why would you delete facebook? It's nothing like the others and if you do meet a girl who you like and you don't have Facebook w/ respectable number of friends you'll be branded as a weirdo/social outcast. People who delete facebook WILL be labeled a "loser" by girls/women. First off, it's an important "this guy isn't going to be a serial killer" validation. Secondly, it's proof that you have the ability to earn and maintain friends/contacts throughout your life (ie: you're not socially awkward). Finally, as a man - WTF would you delete FB? Just don't post anything on it or log in. Ever.

Sounds like you place WAAAAAY to much value on Facebook.
I hope you are being sarcastic!

I actually deleted my Facebook and consequentially my Tinder account last night. I already feel like a "new" man.

I only use those things, such as I do, to post funny shite. I never post anything serious about myself, never posts pics of myself. I use it to keep up with former work friends I would lose track of.

It's all in how you use it.

I need to. Sick of Facebook, twitter, and all this stuff. I hate facebook with all this bragging of how much fun they have in college and all the pretty girls they're meeting. Dont forget the political statuses. tigerdroppings and tinder are okay.

Col Reb,

Great job. You have made the mature decision to act like an adult and not like a middle school girl who obsesses on others lives.

I took an "electronic break" for 21 days about 5 years ago and I have never looked back. I focus my time on the people in my daily life and keep up with others by email. I do not think I have missed anything important in the last 5 years.

For the criticism about posting here, I see it as just good anonymous fun. I am not forming relationships nor do I care what anyone thinks of me on this forum. It is just a distraction from the stress of life and all in good fun.

Do not log back into ANY of it. I am proud of my lack of "Social media" footprint and do not care who knows it.

I created a Facebook profile specifically for using Tinder. It is private, has no friends, and can't be searched for by anyone.

Was really disappointed when Tinder made the change that you had to be active on Facebook to use the app.

Facebook has its uses:
remembering people's birthdays
sharing pictures
getting laid
making sure the person you want to f&%k isn't a serial killer

You can make the site much more fun by doing the following:
not going on it more than 10 minutes a day
block games from posting updates (like candy crush, farmville, mobsterworld, ect)
block or unfriend especially "political" friends
block people who basically just post pictures of every meal they eat. No one cares about "check out my mad-plating skills with my frozen tilapia!!!!"
Remember that facebook only shows what people want others to see. It broadcasts only the very best things they've done. Only the most fun, the best pictures, ect make the cut. Think about your best times and remember that that's all that you're seeing.
Just sit back and enjoy the hot girl pictures.

Also, facebook is just a tool, nothing more. It's not life, it's not society, it's not anything but a means to an end. If you know what your end is, then you can tailor you tool to help you accomplish that.

P.S. Twitter is a complete waste of time and causes nothing but trouble.

Yes, it made me sad to see all my high school classmates killing it at Tulane or Austin. I never uploaded pictures on Facebook.

I do sometimes, mostly goofy pictures or one where I'm tagged with a big group of friends or an especially good picture of my SO and I. It was tough at first, when I was single in college, seeing all of these pictures of friends out in Tigerland or at their hunting camps, buying houses on their Operator Salaries, getting married, going on spring break, ect (since I rarely had time or money to do any of these things, especially Spring Break), but it also was funny watching the popular girls from my HS get fat, have trailer trash babies out of wedlock, and see bikini pics of hot chicks I met from sororities, so not all bad
