BUT A COUPLE OF MEATY TIPS. A couple of additional circumstantial bits I've got:

The wife of a current 49ers assistant coach stating that Michigan fans are going to be "real happy about something as soon as the season's over."
John Elway, who tried to hire Harbaugh in 2011, telling some business associates that Harbaugh to Michigan is "pretty much" a done deal.
More player grapevine stuff indicating that Harbaugh will announce for Michigan as soon as the 49ers season is over.

I enjoy the first two bits a lot because they have nothing to do with a potential echo chamber amongst the Michigan side of things. Neither of these sources is direct or established with me, but both had specifically credible paths to the people in the know. There's been positive stuff I've heard that I appreciate but doesn't move the needle much; these two tips are substantial ones.

I don't think MGoBlog postings on here are going to sway much opinion. People either think it's happening or it's not. We'll find out in a week.

The biggest news today in regards to Harbaugh is Ross deciding to keep Philbin in Miami.

Ross previously indicated that he would pursue Harbaugh only if he was on the NFL market.

Ross, a huge M donor whom the business school is named after, knows something.

This board is hellbent on keeping Harbaugh away from Ann Arbor though. I have never seen such a violent opposition to a coaching change.

This board is extremely uneducated on this coaching search. 90% of the twits are saying it will not happen.

Is this the cousin of your girlfriend's mailman's wife's aunt? The one who saw Ferris collapse at the 31 Flavors?

Well, you've only been on the board since 2012. If you were around longer, Harbaugh to UM is peanuts.

That said, I don't think anyone on this board is hellbent on keeping Harbaugh from UM. In fact, I'd like him to go to UM. That doesn't mean I think he will.

Uh, this board has nothing to say about it. It's either gonna happen or not happen, regardless of what you read here.

This board doesn't really care about where Harbaugh goes any further than how it effects Miles.

You laugh, but Ferris could have really been sick.

Yeah right. Me as a LSU fan couldn't care any less what Michigan does.

I figured Michigan had Harbaugh in the bag. It's been too long since they fired Hoke and a lot of silence.

no. Most I think would be happy that a team outside the SEC actually does something significant.

There's a pretty good chance it doesnt. You must be new to coaching changes

You act as though it's inconceivable that a very successful NFL coach would pass on UM and try to remain a successful NFL coach. That's more bizarre than the people thinking he won't go to UM.

Yeah, this.

UM's last hire was Brady Hoke.

And a majority of this board acts as if it's inconceivable that a successful NFL/college coach would return to his alma mater to coach for about the same amount of money he would get in the NFL.

Alma mater is blown out of proportion. How many successful coaches go back to coach at their alma mater?

Harbaugh has an ego and believe it or not, I think it's larger than UM's ego - which is saying a lot.
