I keep seeing on FB we are in cap hell. Of course the usual clean house blah blah. What is the bottom line with the cap for FA next year?

If i'm not mistaken I believe the cap goes up next year. Several vets should restructure or hit the road.

Bottom line is the cap is estimated at 140 Million we have 160 Million committed. We have some decisions to make.

We are in cap hell. 7 players account for nearly 100 million in cap. That's horrible. Several contracts will be restructured this off season.

Team is done and over with going forward. Like the article says, Loomis went for it short term then it totally blew up.

We are fine. With a few selective cuts, restructurings(especially turning roster bonuses into signing bonuses to spread out the hit), and pay cuts we will have enough cap to do whatever we need to.

Imo we need to go ahead and dump both guards and at least 1 of Hawthorne or Lofton(they are too similar to be on the field together). That right there will get us under if I'm not mistaken. Then you turn Graham and Byrd's roster bonuses into signing bonuses and we'll have enough money to sign whoever we want to.

Then the big money saver will be restructuring/extending Brees. And we have Colston who will need to take a pay cut or be cut.

We could be $30 mil under the cap if we wanted to.

did you watch us play this year?

a few cuts and restructuring isn't going to address WR, OL, LB, CB, S, and K

Interpretation: We will make guaranteed roster bonuses into signing bonuses and stretch them over the length of the contract. Basically, kick the can down the road with a steep hill just a few feet away.

We will be about $20 million over the cap. Cutting both guards and Lofton would be cap savings of $13.6 million. Would not even be at the cap much less below with those 3 outright cuts.

Great post by you. Barnwell in the Grantland article was assuming things like having to pay Ingram, which is not happening. I think I read they can get to 25 mil for sure. 30 would be nice.

I think decent deals can be found for interior linemen. CB is where they might have to spend a nice chunk of change.

@chameltoe guy, I meant cap wise, we are able to be to clear room and make moves.

And yeah I think was a little off (having not seen the numbers for a while). Those 3 still get us 2/3rds of the way to clearing $20 mil, plus we have Brees, roster bonus conversions, and other moves we can make. We'll likely get at least $10 mil under, if not more.

You're pathetic if that is all you could comprehend from my posts on the subject.

It's okay that the subject is too complex for your little brain.

$10 million under the cap is nothing when you need to sign FAs and draft picks with the needs we have.
