OK - stupid question of the day....

Hoping somebody could give me the back-story of Lake Henderson (near Breaux Bridge). I was on the fringes when they did that big eco-drain years back, and lacking the details of exactly why that happened and why it has not yet returned to it's former glory.

I remember back in the day that on any given weekend, there were so many boats competing for choice fishing spots that they would have territorial "paddle battles". I drove over it a few weeks ago and saw only 3 boats.

I'll hang up and listen.

They just did a drawdown. Water is on the way back up and the water is muddy as shite. Nobody is really catching. That is what I'm being told. I haven't been out there since July.

Went a couple weeks ago and caught 2 bass and missed 2 or 3 fish, could've been goggle eye or something else though. Only found shad in 1 spot. Caught 1 bass on a spinner bait where the shad were and 1 on a speed craw in another spot. The fish just weren't biting. I figured I'd be able to pull a few out when I saw shad popping but it didn't happen.

Henderson is a never ending battle with hydrilla.
They keep draining and spraying it in hopes of controlling those weeds, but it's an uphill battle.

I believe that's the spring time crappie fishing. There are a couple of places with drop offs and structure where boats will line just feet from one another.

That's why I haven't been there since July. It completely took over.

Maybe I missed it by a week or two. That's typically how it goes.

Most people I've talked to aren't catching a thing.. Maybe they just suck at fishing.

Any tips on the bass? I'm really experienced with the Henderson area but haven't been since the drawdown. Me and a friend are gonna go tomorrow morning

That's interesting, I was thinking that they wouldn't be chasing bait with this cold weather. I was gonna flip a jig all morning

Do you think they're gonna be deep with this rain coming our way?
