it's no wonder America tires of the police.

Maybe we should abolish the police? We're all noble savages, right?

I'd prefer that we have a police force who doesn't write off every death that happens under their watch as a tPOS who got what they had coming.

If you'd prefer to construct false dichotomies, that's your prerogative.

The people perpetuating this idea the most are probably lily white female gender studies majors at Oberlin on Daddy's dime.

First reply to your OP was spot on.

Well of the big 3 recently, they all were either thugs and law breakers (Brown and Garner) and Rice was walking around waving what was perceived to be a real gun in peoples faces.

Just saying

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Thanks for demonstrating it so eloquently.

I think being white, or really any color, is on balance a lot better than it has been at almost any point in history.

I don't like to jump into a thread when I have only read part of it, but I can't let that comment about people in their fifties are living with the old injustice. Someone who was 50 in 2014 was born in 1964. By the time they entered school it was 1970. Things weren't great for black people then, but improving. By the time they entered the work force it was 1982, and things were certainly better. There is no excuse for someone 50 years old and younger to claim they were held back only because of their race. And yes, I grew up poor. But we didn't steal or abuse the system. We weren't trashy. My family believed in education and work. Your sort of attitude, looking to blame someone else for your problems, is exactly what is causing most of the problems in this country today. Were black people better off in the 1960's than today. Of course not. But the cultural problems in the black community today did not exist then. Judge a man by his own character, not his skin color. You have turned into a black version the 1960 white segregationist.
