Maybe it's been addressed at some point in some way that I haven't seen, but his rule would be basically impossible to carry out. He may not intentionally try to kill them, but with the amount of physical fighting he endures, it would be practically impossible to not accidentally kill one of the thousands of people he's beaten up over the years.

However unlikely, a single punch could kill someone. The dude who robin hood was based on was supposedly killed from a bunch that ruptured internal organs.

Or what if he causes some old dude he's fighting to have a heart attack? Or what if he breaks a bone in someone's leg and that causes a blood clot like Finny in A Separate Peace? I want answers.

He's killed a number of people. Probably more than most other heroes. Like he left KGBeast to starve in a sewer. Batman be a hypocrite.

Spider-Man's no-kill policy is even more unlikely considering how fast and strong he is

If he kills his villains, it reduces further opportunities for future storylines.

So it stems from that.

If he has a decision on whether or not to kill someone he will not. If the act of saving the innocent involves putting the criminal's live in danger he will. Basically he won't intentionally kill a criminal, instead will bring them to justice to meet their fate. The decision not to intentionally kill is a self-policing mechanism to control his hatred and vigilantism.

Most of Batmans choices make no sense. He's an emo kid on HGH. What do you expect?

his no gun rule is even sillier when he has missiles shooting from his car.

He's better than super man.

And he doesn't intentionally kill. Anyone. He brings them to justice. With science. And evidence. And his computer.

He's a bat.

a dishwasher at my old job died from one hit. Took one punch to the head. had an aneurysm and died. So yeah I get you r point, I think in the comic world we must assume, that unless they are killed, they do not die. Meaning, you can get injured to the point of death in comics, and as long as you have time, you will heal. There is never really many instances of lasting injury. Even broken backs and severe head injuries just require a little downtime.

Well I would imagine his missiles on his car are to prevent serious emergency situations that would require such action.

It's more of a preference not to have to kill I am sure.

It makes less sense to not kill a character like the Joker - a guy who continually escapes from Arkham and slaughters hundreds of people. His 'no kill' rule is not only dumb but inconsistent and illogical.
