He wasn't alone in this. Their response to any criticism of their tactics helped insure that relationship didn't go anywhere, with him or the protestors.

Probably true, and any building momentum for police cameras, or against no knock warrants, or drug war laws will probably get wiped out, all because of an a-hole with a gun.

When the most irrelevant poster in board history (with apologies to Tuba) shows up for the stalker-like drive-by-insult, it's time to go to bed.

It's like the Universal Call To Slumber; "Vegas is here"....

Not liking DeBlasio doesnt change the fact that a man was choked to death for selling untaxed cigarettes.

The only color in this country that decides how much power/influence a group has is green. Check out the stats on that broken down by race and tell us again that whites are losing power.

Of people getting out of hand with the rhetoric. I get that you're upset, but you have no legitimate reason to be calling for "burning" people. frick you.
After learning his dad, Officer Ralph Ramos, was murdered by a cold-blooded killer Saturday, 13-year-old Jaden Ramos wrote this on his Facebook page.
quote:

This is the worst day of my life."
"Today I had to say bye to my father. He was there for me everyday of my life, he was the best father I could ask for. It's horrible that someone gets shot dead just for being a police officer. Everyone says they hate cops but they are the people that they call for help. I will always love you and I will never forget you. RIP Dad."

100% totally completely indisputably FALSE!
A chokehold contributed nothing to his death.
There was no chokehold!

The officer tackled him with a move that would not even qualify as a clothesline in a football game.

The fellow died through a scenario very similar to Luis Rodriguez. The weight of several bodies dogpiling an obese, unhealthy victim with arms pinned behind his back basically crushed the breath out of him. It was wholly unnecessary in both cases. It should at least be a learning experience for the cops.

In cases where the suspect's hands are successfully cuffed, if pressure continues, the cops should be prosecuted. May say something about equipment. Standard handcuffs for a 400lb man may force his arms so far back as to be dangerous. Perhaps a different design cuff would help.

But erroneously identifying cause of death won't contribute to a constructive solution.

How to know if someone's crazy: they blame the actions of a crazy person on the mayor, as though they are somehow connected.

LINK

No reasonable person can look at the 1:25 to 1:35 section and say there was no choke hold. Was it that long? Not really, but it was there.

The so called leaders that call for disobedience and protest are dividing this country more each day. They know they can stir up the ignorant fools and they will believe the white people and cops are the problem when reality is it's the ignorant and criminal element that is to blame.

I live in NYC and De Blasio has done nothing to "stir up" people. The people blaming this on the mayor are reeeaaally reaching.

Arguing about whether he was choked or not isn't very constructive either.

We know he died at the hands of police

It wasn't an accident

If you live in NYC....I would hope you would be a little more informed. Of course this was a crazy person...but if you think the mayor has not said or done anything to stir people up....you haven't been paying attention.

Since you're informed, please point me to some concrete example of De Blasio stirring people up.

It wasn't an accident? You saying his death was intentional? Premeditated murder? I have no dog in the hunt...but didn't he die from a heart attack? I

Your Mayor allowed the protestors to shut down streets, bridges, and attack two police Lt.'s and did not back his officers. That's a good reason to be pissed.

My opinion, for what it's worth, is that Eric Garner's death was the accidental and unintentional result of justifiable police use of force. I personally think the chokehold contributed to his death, but that's just my opinion. I'm not a physician and I didn't read the autopsy report, so I grant that I could be wrong.

I think the officer made a mistake by applying a hold to Garner's neck. I've read the NYPD policy regarding chokeholds and it's very explicit that what he did was wrong.

I think that whether the officer's actions constituted negligent homicide should have been left up to a jury, but I also wasn't privy to the evidence presented at the grand jury, so I can't say for certain how I would have voted if I'd been on the grand jury.

So, while I lean toward thinking that the grand jury should have indicted, I understand that there could have been evidence presented that made it clear that they made the right decision.

Calling the police racist over and over? Does that qualify? Read the "this week" transcript on Abcs website from dec 7.
