As his older brother, it is your duty to be in complete control of this. Censor the mail. Any envelopes without a Baton Rouge post mark must be thrown away. Any coaches other than Miles or Wilson must be hung up on. Have him commit to the Tigers at his 14th birthday party then shut down recruiting.

Lol, I wish I could. I live in Cary, NC now. When I got back from Iraq in 2009, I bought tickets to see LSU vs. Arkansas. His first LSU game, he loved it. We were seating in the south end zone when Chad Jones laid that hit on that receiver. I don't know how he became a TCU as of late, but you can't go wrong with them.

But if he is great in high school I won't have to.
Well yeah you will - we won't know who he is. You didn't tell us his name (not asking for it, just the point we don't know who he is). You can come back a few years from now and let us know how his recruiting is going... and then I'm guessing, you can tell us who he is.

Yeah, he is only 13. But if you read all my posts you will realize my last name is Harrington. I'll just stop it there.

Nope, if this kid is everything he is saying and will be playing at Erath I think it will be easy to figure out.

Have your Mom toss all mail in the garbage post marked from Tuscaloosa. Have Dad shoot any angry midgets that show up knocking on the door.

Ah, ok - didn't know you posted your last name. Cool

Anyone on here has any experience with a family member being recruited?
Dylan Moses dad drops in once in a while and Garret Brumfield's dad used to be on here a good bit. I am sure there are others.

He'll get lots of invites to camps, junior days, and games; make sure he actually goes to as many as he can.
If he gets an invite make sure and go to "Boys from the Boot" that LSU puts on to woo the LA talent. It is good to generate some local pride and seed some team spirit at the same time.

Who do the scouts of 13 year olds work for?
NUC, FBU, and Youth 1 would be the top 3 probably.

You should probably try to reach out to Dylan Moses dad and ask him for advice. He seems like a cool guy and post on this board sometimes as well as the 247 board. His username is Jrevonte.

I appreciate all the advice. I talk to my parents once a week. I give them advice on how to handle the recruiting process. I always let them know that this is just the beginning and to expect a lot more in the coming years. But even I had no idea how big this was at the 11, 12 and 13 year old levels. Erath is not known for producing talent. He definitely needs to learn how to work out by someone who knows what they are talking about.

If he is a top QB and doesn't commit to us then you will be permabanned.

Yes, if he projects as an OT in college, make sure he works on his footwork everyday, and mostly, make sure he ha s a proper diet so that he can hold that weight well. it will benefit him in the long run regardless of how big of a prospect he turns out to be.
congrats and wish him the best.
oh and thanks for your service!

I can't speak for football, but a good friend of mine was drafted in baseball out of highschool. His dad developed heart trouble with the constant badgering. Make sure your parents are firm with people.

I have worked with a good bit of athletes who went on to play D-1 including schools like LSU. The only advice I would give is for the family not to get caught up in all the recruiting hype. Coaches will tell you anything to keep you interested. The most important thing right now is to eat right and get as strong as possible. Mix in drills to work on quick feet and explosion. Camps do help in getting exposure and working on correct technique. Believe it or not but many high school coaches really don't know the proper techniques and lifts to become a physical machine. Good luck.
