For now we are considering this a suspicious situation," Washington said.

Neighbors say they could see smoke from the burning pickup for miles.

"Millington Fire Department came, put the fire out in a few minutes," Washington said. "As they were checking things they found a body inside the truck."

The truck was found in a ditch off the side of the road with what appears to be a man slumped over on the passenger side.

Authorities say they can't tell how the body got there.

"It's pretty well charred and from what I understand it's going to be awhile before they can determine the identity of the victim," Washington said.

But Washington said the grisly discovery looks like no accident.

"It is considered suspicious right now," Washington said. "Until we can make a determination from the medical examiners perspective, then we'll obviously know more."

If you can assist the sheriff with their investigation you are urged to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.

Close...but but as soon as someone burns down 90% of Memphis the south will be a better place.

In high school I was on my way home one night and saw a Denali/Tahoe engulfed in flames in the parking lot of the BREC park on Kenilworth. We pulled in and called the cops, but we couldn't tell if there was anybody inside. Even if there was, they were surely dead. The heat out off by that fire was ridiculous.

When we called the cops they said that somebody had already called it in so we left. I wish we would have stayed because we never found out what happened.

A body found in a burning/burned car is a pretty common occurrence in this country. The bad guys watch a lot of CSI. Evidence and shite.

That whole northeast area of Memphis has gone to $#!+. It's been expanding-out for the better part of four decades now ... but hell, it's moving down through Whitehaven and Southaven too, so there's not stopping it. It's a disease.

Memphis is fast becoming Detroit ... it's almost there.
